They were probably all paralyzed!
-
Haha actually I am waiting for some more people, I have sent out more game requests.
But I have not improved during my break, if anything I got worse.
The 4-0 is just a snapshot, I have a couple of losses incoming. But that’s fine, I already have learnt from some mistakes I have made and will do better.
Dice have ruined 2 games for me so far - they gifted me a win against @Avner and they are about to make me lose my 2nd game against simon I guess.@Adam514 has impressed me the most so far, leaving me no chance at all. The way he dominates me everywhere is very helpful for my learning curve.
-
Speaking of Adam:
His Axis defeat my Allies+18 in BM4 in a dominating manner. If anything, I think the dice even favoured me over the course of the game, but it made no difference.

It is fabulous to have @Adam514 back also, for sure. He keeps everyone humble.
-
@Adam514 OK… Adam, I didn’t realize you went this many years back in the league.
I gave a short and exciting bio on MrRoboto as he returned, here’s yours.2015, 25-5
2016, 42-1
2017, 18-2
2018, 25-3
2nd place in playoff, losing only to JDOW who won back to back championships (was in his prime)2019, 17-1
Won the championship, going through 666, ksmckay, and our very own Axis-Dominion2020, 13-1
2021, 10-1
2022, took a break
2023, 5-0That adds up to 155-14, a 91.7% win%
93.75% since January 1, 2019That is unquestionably the best record the league has ever seen. Each of those losses were against top competition, proving my experienced observation that strategy/skills/experience can overcome all kinds of luck. I didn’t see a single loss to a less than great player.
-
@gamerman01 I’ll note here too that in most of my games with Adam, I feel like the dice have favoured me and I lost despite having some great luck. And in the one game I did manage to win, I have never have had such consistently great dice and it was a very near thing.
-
Well, we’re smart, farmboy because we’re making a run at the championship in Adam’s 1 off year

How many are you in?
13 right now, with some requests pending ;-)

I am away for a week, so won’t be able to play.
Will be back next Tuesday!
I hope it’s ok if I make my life easier by just posting it here once and tagging everyone that I’m playing against right now, instead of posting it in every single thread.@gamerman01

Hi everyone, I had a new thought this morning.
I think there should be a backup league moderator in case I get hit by a truck or something.
Mainly, the standings spreadsheet that has years of history in it. Oh, I guess that would still be there and a new leader could just start a new one and do it better, but if someone would volunteer, I could give dual access to the standing spreadsheet. If I ever disappear, the new leader would need to ask Dave Jensen for moderator powers so that the stickied threads that are locked could be updated, like the rules and the league history results, etc.
Anyway, anyone wanna volunteer to be backup? No responsibilities unless I disappear. Unless you want them. Many years ago there have been dual moderators - it works.
I would train you briefly on how the standings/ranking spreadsheet has been done in the past.
I will politely refuse anyone who doesn’t have a lot of history or an excellent reputation here, to protect everyone.
It’s not like I’m going to retire, and I drive carefully and try not to consume TOO much sugar every day, but you know. Life insurance policy.
-
I love managing spreadsheets actually so if nobody else wants to do it, I’m available.
I don’t have nearly as much history here as many others though, so no hard feelings if I’m not suited to the task. -
You are ideal.
We’ll talk about it.
Others are welcome to volunteer, but the need is met.
Thanks!!
-
I am ready to assist with administrative (forum related) tasks. Let me know.
-
@Panther Sweet, didn’t yet occur to me that you might be an option - so that’s awesome and thanks
If my backup actually needed moderator abilities I imagine he could go to you for edits as needed, if and until moderator status might be granted by Dave
-
To be clear to the league players -
I’m not anticipating any changes in my status.
It’s always a possibility that I would be deposed by a violent revolt, of course, complete with pitchforks and torches. (Or bombers and subs?)Looks like MrRoboto is my backup especially for the rankings spreadsheet.
I don’t need anyone to step up to be a co-moderator (not necessarily an A&A.org moderator with the black banner and super-power abilities - which is only granted by Dave, the owner of the site)
but anyone is always welcome to ask - to make a 2 man team for setting rules and such - although nobody would benefit if there is a “two-headed monster” where we might disagree on major points.
But moderating the league has not been a burden. I almost never am asked to make rulings or stop fights - it’s incredible, you guys are incredible.
What I’m saying is I don’t even want to be perceived as a dictator - I have been in charge for over 10 years because no one has expressed desire to lead, nor displeasure with my reign of terror (all dissidents are immediately suppressed)
But this too long of a post is to say that I am really honored and I enjoy this role, but I certainly don’t want to monopolize and I am seriously not a dictator. I’m only about 70% power hungry, not 100% or anything like that.
