I’ve never done it myself, but my impression is that the game is severely imbalanced in favor of Japan, so start with a 30-50 IPC bid for the Allies, and revise from there.
Pacific 1940 review copy has arrived

Hmm… just looked them over. I’m loving the map - some serious dodging and weaving through the expanse of sea zones - excellent potential for some serious naval action. Spotted a few new minis (the dive bombers and a half-track, otherwise they look like the same sculpts…). We need some more info - eagerly awaiting the report from the first couple of games… or any more info!

I’m trying to line a game this weekend with the folks I’ve been playing with for over 15 years. Not sure if they have time though.
-
I’m looking forward to reading your review.

The map looks awesome, except for the fact that it folds :(((((((
AA50 was wonderful because of the hard maps.
If you have time to take a photo of the initial setup, that would be really really appreciated!

I can see some of the halftracks and the tactical bombers… looking good, but need closeups.
-
It appears that industrial complexes, antiaircraft guns, seaports, and airfields are cardboard counters
-
Yes finally!
I am so glad they did that. They never needed to be pieces. Not enough room for all that stuff on these micro maps
-
I suppose there aren’t any holder for the pieces right?
luckily for those who have AA50, we can still use the boxes and units!

are there no specific chinese artillery?
-
Grr… $80 and no way to hold the separate units for each power. That’s just cheap.
-
62.99$ at coolstuffinc.com
Granted, its still expensive.
-
Well most of us all ready have plenty of those pieces that arn’t there
-
Krieghund, since the review copies are out, are you allowed to write up your thoughts on the game now? I’m sure you’ve played it a bunch already, no?
I’m looking forward to reading your review.

The maps are “hard” and made of heavy-weight cardboard.

When you look at the photos, the bags of pieces are on top of the holder boxes. The covers of the holder boxes have the setup information for that country, which is really nice if you ask me.
