Hi, I think I have to call this one too. The TUV and income might be pretty similar at the moment, but you have more abilities to threaten territories than I do. I have no chance to take out the Ottomans, and I’ll have to use all of the US resources to save Italy, while France has a hard time defending and taking back all territories Germany takes while preserving its strength. It might be a stalemate for the next amount of turns, but I think the CP will still win eventually. In any case, I will have no chance of winning.
I have to compliment you on two things:
You did an excellent job of bypassing the stack in Russia by just contesting it so that it cannot retake neighboring territories. I was unaware of that, but it also made me realize something. Defending Russia is a lot harder then because you need to have a balance between stacking your units in Moscow, but also keep a stack in reserve to take back territories adjacent to Moscow. At some point, this will be impossible as that reserve stack will get attacked by CP units.
Also, I didn’t know that the Ottomans have such great defensive capabilities. Even though I spent almost all of my British money in India, I wasn’t able to break through the defenses. With early US help I might’ve had more success, but you also cleverly delayed the US units from coming.
So all in all, now I am unsure what the best Entende strategy entails. Fully against Ottoman will not work I think. With the help of Austria-Hungary, it becomes very hard to crack the defenses. 100% Germany might be interesting, but I don’t immediately see how it can work out well. If the British spend little money in India, the Ottomans may become annoying. But otherwise, the Western front will not have enough reinforcements. And Germany has good defensive capabilities. A first instinct tells me that attacking Germany might work better because you pull strength away from the Russian front. But I am unsure.
What do you think? Did I do something wrong while attacking Ottoman Empire? Should I’ve defended Russia a bit more fiercely? I am interested to hear your thoughts. Thanks for the game, and I am looking forward to playing another.
@victoryfirst I have completed nearly 40 games of 1914 since we started our first game. I have come to understand the the Russian revolution rule is incredibly complex and there are many little tricks someone can implement to bend the game in their favor.
I will be releasing a video shortly on my channel that details all of the ways each side can take advantage of that particular optional rule. I’m not sure what you did was wrong in Russia. It took a relatively long time to remove the Russians from the game compared to others and I had to heavily damage one of my armies to pull that move.
When playing against a seasoned CP player, it can take 10-11 turns to break the Ottomans down. In that sense, you are on track as the Entente.
The area that hurt the Entente in this particular game was having the USA stopped by the CP navy for so many turns. Being delayed one turn is rough but more than one turn is going to be trouble. Also, as the Italian player and as the Entente in general, I spend quite a bit of energy to never lose Venice. I even send French troops down there until the American get into the war. If Venice falls to the CP, it can become very difficult for the Entente after Russia falls. The Entente have the economic advantage. The British can and will overwhelm the Ottomans eventually. This means the Entente just need to hold everywhere else (except Russia). The only area where you need to “win” (rather than hold ground) is with the British against the Ottomans. And you don’t really need to have this done until turns 11, 12, or 13.
This has been my experience across the nearly 40 games I’ve logged in the last six to eight months.

@victoryfirst you should check out TGC YT channel “Captain at war” and watch my game played out with him. i defeat him playing as the entente while playing with an India build restriction rule even. i dont initially gain much advantage against the ottomans and most of the effort is used to deny germany any ground in russia while also holding the AH forces back and not letting them break though venice (or push any further than switzerland) . effecient transport and management of the Entente navy is important.
