Amphibious assaults can be done in two steps, consisting of a sea battle and a land battle. In your example, both the cruiser and the transport would attack the destroyer. If the attackers win, the transport can offload and the land battle will occur. If the transport ends up retreating (or being sunk), the land battle will not occur and the transport may not offload.
TRANSPORT QUESTION
-
Can you load units onto a transport in a sz containing an enemy sub?
-
yes.

Thanks and +1

That contains enemy combant ships? I did not know that.

Similar query. I’m considering unloading in a zone containing an enemy transport (I have no ships or planes present to kill that transport). The TripleA program tells me that my transport in this SZ “will die”. I’m confused about this–I guess 2 different transports can’t exist in the same zone? But how does the enemy transport kill mine?
-
that may be a quirk with the program. the presence of an enemy transport shouldn’t matter
-
Yeah it turned out ok after all, it just made the warning when I hit “conduct combat” but once the combat happened everything was fine. Seems to be a bug.

Only if they’re subs.
