Hi guys, I’ve really enjoyed checking out your game from G1 tonight - finally looking at a couple playoff games for the first time.
I do have one comment as I’ve just finished Russia 4 -
It looks like the engine awarded +3 for the Russian NO of holding an Axis territory in Europe, but Scandinavia (Finland, here) doesn’t count.As per the game notes it has to be in “mainland” Europe. Mainly pointing it out for your future reference, but probably a correction should be made to Russia 5 to reduce the purchase by 3. Oh, and I see 6 was awarded at the end of Russia 5 (Finland and Norway) so 6 IPC’s should be deducted from Russia’s current bank. I guess you’ll have to do that every turn going forward if Russia controls Finland or Norway. Programming is apparently wrong.
-
You can resolve it in a different way if you both agree, since moves have passed and decisions have been made based on the wrong Russia money.
Just offering up what seems to be the most obvious and logical choice.
-
I think 2 neutral infantry need to be edited back to Chile
-
From J5 -
SBR is first, then all amphibious assaults are to be rolled before any other battles. Again, future reference. Sometimes it matters. Sometimes it matters a lot. Somebody had to point it out to me years ago (JDOW) -
(Philippines, Trans-Jordan, Java) should have been first.
I don’t think there are many players who realize this is a rule, and many don’t understand the importance. But I’m sure you will - - and pass it on :fist: -
Apologies for the intrusion here, but I just saw @gamerman01 's post. Are you sure about Finland (and I presume Norway)? I’ve always assumed they counted in BM and I think technically they are considered part of the European mainland in the real world.
And yes, this game looks interesting. I’ve only played one game with PB and 2 recent games with ME1945, but my sense is that you two are the most creative players in league in that you try non standard strategies with axis. Looks to me though that this time PB is paying for it. That is one powerful Red Army.

Farmboy, I thank you for asking that right away.
I sorted through the pages of the balanced mod rules thread, and on June 13, 2016 I asked the question about Scandinavia because the balanced mod makers had inserted “mainland Europe” into the game notes. https://www.axisandallies.org/forums/topic/27451/g40-balance-mod-rules-and-download/502?page=21
Regularkid posted a link to back up their definition of including Scandinavia, which is broken now.
I look it up on wikipedia now, and it clearly does include Scandinavia. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Continental_Europe
(Link says continental Europe, but that is the same as “mainland” Europe it says in the same article)They didn’t change the description in the game notes, so 6 1/2 years later I’m confused again. I thought the reason for adding that parenthetical was to distinguish it from the original 2nd edition rules, but in fact they are the same, as you pointed out. So the programming is correct - if Finland and Norway weren’t supposed to be included, now I realize they surely would have edited the programming long ago.
-
So, sorry Pacifier and Me1945 if you read all that -
In short, I need to retract my instructions about the Russian +3’s, so the engine was correct and should be left as is.I’ll remember that in my future exploits with Russia.
Pretty good chance one of you three will eject me from the playoffs if I manage to get past elche, which would be a fitting punishment. :flushed:

@gamerman01 I think the distinction is there so that people don’t claim the bonus from Iraq or the Italian territories in N Africa. And in my googling this online, I did read that while Scandinavia is generally included in mainland Europe because there is a land connection, it often isn’t in practice because the easiest way to get to the rest of Northern Europe is often by sea.

I was going to say something similar last night. I’ve only seen one player play like Pacifier - my old nemesis all the way back to childhood - BOLDFRESH
I kept asking myself if it was really him under ANOTHER pseudonym, but a statement or 2 by Pacifier convinces me he’s not. :joy:Wow. That attack on Z91 was EXACTLY something Bold would have done. I haven’t seen a crafty airbase build by Italy in an extremely unconventional place in years. And the brutal dice that followed the dastardly, ultra-sneaky plan - brings back memories.
Sorry, not sorry, for the very rude intrusion by me. Hopefully we don’t have to wait too long for pacifier’s next move.

THANK YOU you are such a gentleman. I didn’t have to say the North Sea thing myself, then. Was just feeling like an un-wordly wise mid-westerner

@pacifiersboard Forgot to add, early invasion of the neutrals, and then aggressively going after Sweden and Turkey. I guess I still wonder if you’re not Bold!! When are the Swiss gonna die??!!
@Me1945
MAN I love watching Me1945 work. -
@farmboy & gamerman
Thanks for your review the game and thoughts. Appreciate your comments.
