How did you move the Americans out of spain/into Marseilles? Posted AH6/G6 anyway but I’m pretty sure you can only move out of contested territories into territories your power specifically controls, not an ally.
Side-Note: I converted the AH INF in Karelia into a CP-Neutral INF, similar to what I did in Moscow as Germany last round.

Question that I forget the exact ruling on: Can FTRs travel over Neutral Territory without violating said territory’s neutrality? I think the answer is “yes” but would like your confirmation as it might matter in the next round.
-
from the FAQ:
Q. Can a fighter fly over a neutral territory on its way to another territory?
A. No.I’m kinda surprise your intuition was “yes”. I don’t know any version of AnA where that is true. Is there a version where you can do that?
-
@domanmacgee this rule about fighters though has surprised more than one other opponent. In the fewest words, you cannot “freeze” fighters in a contested zone like you can with land units:
Q.
Am I allowed to use a fighter from a contested tt for an attack in a tt that didnt contain units of my power at the begining of my turn?A.
Yes, as long as you are also attacking with infantry. Fighters are not subject to the same movement restrictions that land units are.Fighters can always move up to two spaces, regardless of where they begin the turn. The only exception is when they begin the turn on a transport, in which case they may only be offloaded. They may never fly over neutral territories, but they may attack them along with land units.
Q.
And if the tt is contested (and the defending fighter remains there) can that same fighter attack out of it to another battle (right next to it lets say) (on the defenders next turn) or 1c. does it have to follow the moving out of contested tt rule whereby the units moving out of a contested zone can’t attack a new tt. (it might only say land units so it seems the fighter could make an attack from the contested tt)A.
That restriction applies only to land units, and therefore not to fighters. They may move anywhere they may normally move when leaving a contested territory. -
@domanmacgee check me on this but I believe that since Ukraine was a contested territory and since the ottomans gained control on their turn, is it not now an Ottoman territory?

No, but the rule on FTR movement says:
“Fighters can move up to two spaces. When moving two spaces, it doesn’t matter what the status of the first space is. It can
be a sea zone, a friendly or contested territory, or even a
hostile territory. However, a fighter must end its move in a
territory containing land units belonging to your power”I found it odd for the rulebook to say “it doesn’t matter” but then not actually list neutral territories on the list of allowed “first territories”, hence my confusion. The FAQ is clear-cut on the issue, though. Thanks.

Technically it’s a “Russian” territory while contested, but Russia is out of the game so:
-UK takes it = UK owns it (same precedent as occupying an allied country’s territory while said ally’s capital is in enemy-hands).-Ottoman takes it = Ottomans own it for obvious reasons.
-
@domanmacgee okay, I’m going to flip the Ukraine to Ottoman and add 3 IPC to them.
And ya I see the confusion, that rulebook is really disappointing. You NEED the FAQ to have a chance of making sense of so many issues. And even then, Krieg had to write a twelve page clarification or whatever.
-
@the_good_captain Works for me. I’ve been playing this entire time under the impression that you don’t collect income for contested territories while they’re contested, but I think that’s a War Room thing. I haven’t been playing with the IPC Values though so if TripleA’s been doing it right then we’re probably fine.
-
@domanmacgee the Ukraine is not contested. It was captured by the Ottomans. It was previously German controlled.
-
@the_good_captain Oh whoops. I thought you were talking about Sevastopol this entire time, not Ukraine. My bad. I’m still fine with Ottomans owing Ukraine. Roll on to I6/USA6 whenever you’re ready.

@domanmacgee the rules question wasn’t holding up my turn, I was more or less asking if you knew the correct answer - you are the most rules savvy opponent I’m currently playing.
I believe I found it from page 15,
“If you move units into a hostile territory that contains enemy units, that territory becomes contested. When a territory is contested, it generates no IPC income. The controlling player immediately removes their control marker from the territory…”
So since the German control marker would be removed as soon as it became contested, and since the Ottoman’s captured the contested territory, and since the original owner is a (former) Entente power, it goes to the Ottomans.
-
@domanmacgee forgot to flip it to the Ottomans, use this file: USA6.tsvg

Oh I get where your confusion came from now. We’re on the same page though 100%. Will post AH7 later.
