L22 #2 elche (X) vs trulpen (A+20) BM4

  • Hi Trulpen,

Congratulations to your victory. Again not really a chance to win for me. Very well played from you. You loose early Moscow and this doesnt matter for the game. I couldnt use this advantage and make mistakes I didnt realize.
#1 spent to much money for german fleet ?
    #2 cannot use this fleet
#3 never use my german tanks
#4 if i see I cannot conquer Egypt, what to do instead ?
#5 I Only try to defend the islands with Japan and have not a tactic with Japan.
I hope you will give some tips and tell what do think what are my big mistakes in our game.
I thank you very much for the game and altough that you play against L1 and L2 players. For me its important to learn the game. I didnt have the time to try out best tactics myself in local game. Its easier to learn from the champions.
So I hope too, you will play again against me.
I try out PtV but only local game with Axis. Maybe you give me a chance to try out the game I will try to play very fast like you.
But I am although interested to play BM if you dont like PtV.
My German tactic I learned from you and I get most victorys with Axis although I am a bad player with Japan.
The same with Allies Tactic. Was my first game and I couldnt conquer Russia. You move all russian units towards Moscow in R1 and didnt defend Novgorod and Ukraine.
    With best wishes for you
    Harry

  • I’ll be happy to try and help you hone your strategy. There were some things I thought of. Will try to recollect it, but will look a bit at our game first so I remember it all.

  • Thanks, I am happy too. First and 2nd game was OOB. I think was 2nd game you play Allies.
If we play PtV, please let me start with Axis.

  • I like P2V, so we can try it out. You may start with Axis.

As with our game, I won’t go into specific detail, but will try to draw some broad lines.

    Analysing Germany first:

Fleet may be a good idea, since if it’s possible to control z112, then you control Norway, WG and Berlin. Losing control of z112 leads to a lot of trouble, with having to stack Berlin and WG and somehow keep Norway secure. It’s possible, but a strong navy is one of the easiest ways. The drawback is of course that it bleeds investments in the land war.

I’d say control at land takes priority over the sea.

When it comes to units, I’d say that you overbought tanks. For Germany the golden unit is the mech. It will actually help more keeping control of territories and even boosting attacks, since you get 3 mechs instead of 2 tanks.

You also bought mICs in Russia, which really isn’t necessary. Germany usually has enough production capacity already taking over the russian factories. In order to get even in the investment, you need four turns bying inf instead of mech. That’s a heavy investment which is not really called for.

If you’d have like 15 tanks and a lot more mech, I’m pretty sure that you would’ve had a break-through towards Egypt. Especially not allowing UK to dig down in Iraq. That helped me a lot, being able to utilize that mIC.

You also did some side action in China and towards India. Better to focus all strength towards Egypt after Moscow has fallen. Taking the russian capital early was great for you.

  • When it comes to Japan you have two difficult tasks at hand controlling the land and the ocean.

I used to like buying a mIC in Shantung J1, but have come to realize that 3 tr and a marine (I think) is a stronger opening.

Stacking the Carolines with 2 extra inf J1 or J2 is a great idea, being able to support the island with air for a while, preventing US from getting a stronghold there. It’s simply a great strategic location for the USN.

Kicking China around is important, but not really necessary the exterminate them. If given the chance, it’s of course a good idea.

Building a mIC in FIC is high priority. Also a nb and even ab are very good there. I’m very restrictive with building structures though, since I feel units are more important. Sometimes the gains are high though, like with FIC being able to pressure India immediately.

Japan needs to build a lot of fleet to keep ahead of US and being able to control the ocean. 1 or 2 german strategic bombers are simply a great help for Japan in the early game, being able to make any blocker for the USN very shaky. It means US can’t stick it’s nose to far in the Pac.

  • Thank you very much for your help.
I agree in all points exspecially the 15 tanks. I know I buy to much but against you was 35 tanks not enough. with 30 mech instead of 20 tanks is lower chance to win with bc.
I had many games there were only 1-5 tanks left after the final battle in Moscow. Okay I think that wont happen in your games.
But I will buy more mech in next games but maybe more than 15 tanks. Next game I will buy 3 tr and 1 marine with Japan.
I am happy what you say about german fleet. So I didnt have to change this.
If you want we can start today PtV. I work at home next 5 weeks and hope I can go high speed… I have 1 day a week I cannot move because of football, like yesterday.

  • Just be careful not to overspend on fleet with Germany.

One point with many mechs is that they protect the more valuable units. It’s works with art as well, so do also carry good offensive punch.

We can start a P2V-game. What bid would you like to have? I believe Axis do need some love from the start.

  • You are right with the protection of units with mechs. A lot of points I have to think about.
Didnt know Axis get a bid. I will accept what you offer.
I look now in a local game for my bid

  • I’d say a bid for Axis is about 6-12. Lets say 9.

  • Okay. Please 1 sub sz111 and 1inf in Holland.

  • Do you want to play for the league ?

  • It can be a leagur game. You decide.

  • Lets play for the league. Please set up the game.
