  • @elrood All your talk of a lost game is a smoke screen for your taking Paris next turn. Your bad dice in battle is offset by great tech dice. Industry tech on G2 gives you 8 extra units per turn in your front line ICs. Then gas tech on G3 lets you build 23 gas per turn with offense of 5, that can reach Paris in 1 turn. If France doesn’t get railway guns or at least bunker defense, your odds will jump from negligible to 80% next turn.


  • @fmerwinrommel I do not know what your are talking about. These forces are needed to exterminate all life in the Alp mountains below Switzerland.

    Nevertheless:

    • disregarded all other fronts
    • was lucky in techs
    • did pretty much all that Ron did as Germany
    • and have no certain odds on Paris (Paris had even lucky def techs against Ron, while he had none at all)

    So all my single minded play and impeccable strategy is probably simply beat by the fact that the first few turn dice just killed my game.
    e.g. If more ships would have survived, then UK would not be able to freely carry fresh defenders to Paris each turn, as you did now.

    It is probably not an easy concept for you to grasp, but this game is won by economics, and those are decided within the first few turns of the game.

  • UK saved Paris last team game by buying 7 fighters on round 3 to reach Paris on round 4. I thought that I had more time as UK this game, and went for troops. Plus taking Hanover diverted troops. G wisely didn’t let that divert him from Paris.


  • @fmerwinrommel All true. It felt like a ruse to divert me, but at a high cost (no planes in Paris. Not even the one you already have)

    But the odds on Paris are not great. is 80+ % alright, but at high TUV costs and expected survivors in case of victory are 16 units… that is not a lot. Could be a Pyrrhic victory after all (in case the odds will not strike at me again!)

    I stand by my comments: first few turns misfortunes had the deepest impact on our current situation. I blandly copied Rons moves since I was intrigued by his swift capture of Paris, but he was way more lucky than me, and at turn 2 I had nearly nothing left outside mainland Europe. Which really limited my options. I think Ron is a great player, hence my remark of “my impeccable strategy”, since I played essentially by his book to give that single minded playstyle a try.
    If Germany gets an above average result in Paris Centrals can have a comeback, I guess.
    If Germany wins by a low margin and may be even France can retake Paris as a follow up, then we can shake hands on game doomed from the start.
