Pacific 1940 - Limited Edition or not?

  • @maverick_76:

I usually do boardgames.com but I’ll wait and ask for the pacific one for Christmas I think. If it comes out before that then I will order it immediately, not making the same mistake as I did with AA50. I think as long as these are less than $75 a piece that is a fair price to pay.

don’t worry too much, I read that Dec. 21 or 22 was the expected release date.

  • I really think this is a limited edition… :-(

I am at 95% for this because of the price… no AA game cost this much on preorder except for AA50. NO other AA game costs more than 40 bucks and this retail is like $75.00 and for a WOTC product this is not in line with a large volume product rollout. This is a niche game. I would serious consider buying more than one of these on pre-order because when these go out and AAE40 comes out next year and people play the global game… it will be the best AA product and surpass AA50 in every category.  These games are too huge to be something that will be like AA42 which is for $27.00.

SO the bottom line is buy at least one of these and DON’T REGRET WHAT YOU DIDN’T DO WHEN AA50 CAME OUT… thinking you will wait till the price goes down… this will be a huge mistake and you will repeat the error just like you did when AA50 came out and i told you to buy multiple copies. At any rate buy 2 on pre-order which is about the cost of one when it comes out because the price will only go up.

And i wont be saying this except based on what i do know about how WOTC behaves and lots of experience with them.

  • I could buy more, but I do not have the money -.-

Plus I live in Canada. I believe coolstuffinc does not give free shipping to canada

  • If this one is a  limited edition, then there will be an even bigger demand for it when Europe comes out as new players will want to play the global game. I say buy two now and when the price goes up you can sell it and get your European version with the profit from your extra Pacific game. It’s a no-brainer. Oh wait a minute this kind of sounds like all those lenders who sold houses to people who couldn’t afford them under the guise that they would be able to sell them for a profit when they could no longer make the payments because there was no way that those over-inflated prices were ever going to come down. Oh no that would never happen.

Yes exactly what will happen. People will be going crazy trying to find both and hook them up for the mega game only to find out they can only find them on ebay for $300 each. They will be sorry they didn’t shell out the $62 bucks on pre-order.

I cant wait to hear what SgtBlitz is going to say about this.

  • So, lets say it is limited edition, how many copies are likely to be produced? If I live in Europe and want to be dead sure I get a copy, then pre-order now is the way to go right?

  • I would say that pre-ordering is the only way you can guarantee that you will get a copy if it does end up being a limited edition.

  • I think this is limited but a scaled up quantity from AA50. I think they made double the number as AA50, but its still miles behind what they did for AA42.

Exactly…I got 2 copies of the AA50 game… I wish I would have gotten 2 more but that’s OK.  This time I will buy 3-4 copies of AAP40 and AAE40.  I will keep 2 copies for myself and sell the other 1-2 copies on Ebay.  I am going to wait until this time next year to sell them though when the demand for both games (with the global game option) skyrockets.  Can’t wait to rip some people off!

Its hard enough getting a confirmation date for the reprint of AA50, I would believe it would be twice as difficult to get these games on reprint once they sell out also.  At any rate, IF YOU DON’T GET AT LEAST 2 COPIES OF THESE GAMES, YOU WILL BE SORRY- enough said.
    8-)

  • And if you cant sell them then you will have lots of nice plastic pieces.

  • I’m definately going to pre-order this. I really don’t want to miss out if this is a limited edition, like I did with the Anniversary Edition. But now I wonder, should I get a 1942 Edition with it…(I haven’t bought one yet, due to the fact that I have Revised, and they’re so similar)

  • NO . AA42 is a mass produced product. AAE40/ AAP40 will include the refreshed sculpts and alot others so you dont need this product.

  • Alright then I’ll just stick to AAP40, and AAE40 when it comes out.

  • SHUT UP
YOU GUYS ARE FREAKING ME OUT

I’m sure everyone will get a copy of Pacific 1940 if they order it as soon as it comes out…
and if not, I’ll rip the heads off people who buy multiple copies.

Hopefully amazon.ca or boardgames.ca will have it… with minimal shipping (amazon may even give the free shipping).

Rip my head baby, rip it off cause I’m preordering 4 copies to rip people off this time next year!!!

  • you dirty capitalist swine

  • Is there any other kind of capitalist?

  • Hello,

I have yet another question. To start off I am new to A&A, and love 1942. That being said I realized that Pacific 1940’s win conditions are different than 1942 ( through Victory Points), now will the “Global” game of Pacific & Europe be played the same way involving Victory points, or will it be won like 1942 (or Revised/Anniversary)?

I know I’m new, but I like the “normal” style, not this Victory Point system (I like long game sessions!) although I am intrigued by BOTB for some reason. Hmph.

Thanks again, and I wasn’t sure if this question fit in this thread or the Fact Sheet thread. But I felt it fit here since your answer(s) determine my pre-ordering it (yet again).

    -adam.
