@crockett36 Thanks!

@crockett36 Gibraltar was a bust in this trial. Just want to get one or two hits when we do the real thing.
-
We could attack his stronghold kwangsi with the Chinese, but he still has 6 to transfer. But the Chinese would probably eliminate all of the ground units, but be eliminated themselves.
-
-
@crockett36 that’s the Chinese suggested turn.

@crockett36 Gibraltar hopefully will go better than these turns. I must make sure two planes are on the 91 carrier. Nice Calcutta retake force. Yunnan too weak? Raid on Iraq was weak, but it’s doable for the Russians. Not sure which way to send the Egypt force.
I’d like to hold in 97 and then next turn to Egypt and then through the channel to challenge the IJN in the Indian ocean with a lot of air support.

@trulpen any ideas? down below.
-
@surfer Hey, any ideas for this allied turn?

Ok. The Pacific is an almost complete catastrophe. The US fleet is useless. Going to SZ 6 would be suicidal. Even if you stack, J can bring 2BB + CV + CA + 3DD + 2 SS + 2 sb + 2 ftr + 1 tac + 8 more aircraft!! (Just buys 3 CV + CV in SZ 36) Not gonna lose that one.
So what to do? Good question. Invade Korea? We’re here so I guess so. The Russians can reinforce us. We can launch enough fighter support to prevent the lone tranny from dying, but the rest of the fleet needs to get to a port so it can MOVE. Two very long turns away from that.
The British can try to turtle in India. No guarantees there. J buys tanks next turn and India is in real dire straits with no US force to help.
China can attack Kweichow and consolidate forces in a way that will enable attacks next round, but in the grand scheme, J should say “so what”.
Why is there an ANZAC DD in SZ 60? It’s dead. We need everything we got to defend Australia and India, putting him on the south pole is not useful.
Speaking of Australia, without the US fleet, J is free to just march on over. If India turtles, then J should build his ground forces for the later battle with China. Meanwhile, go grab Australia with 6 transports in 2 turns and never look back for the rest of the game.
Even with a full Pacific buy, the US is so far away that Australia it will be tough to stop. In 2 turns, you can have this buy + Siberian fleet in Hawaii. That will not be able to engage New South Wales but can threaten to land in Queensland and cutoff escape.
Ok, to stop that we need ANZAC blocker. Bye, bye cruiser. It has to go to SZ63 this turn to avoid being sunk. The DD needs to get back ASAP!! Buy defenders (2 rounds = mix of 6 guys+ftrs). Next turn is interesting. J can attempt to take SZ54 with 1 CV + DD + 2ftrs. ANZAC can counter with 3 ftrs + 1 CA + 1 DD maybe? 50/50 battle. If wins, then still need blocker to take SZ54, so buy a DD…bummer now 5 guys.
-
I’m depressing myself now…I guess we can hope for a Pacific miracle, but I don’t see it.
-
I guess one possible counter is to completely overwhelm Germany and force J to get 7 VCs. But a) I don’t think that will happen quick enough. b) If ANZAC dies, then getting 7 is just a few more turns.
-
@surfer Aren’t you double or even triple counting the Japanese force? You have them taking out my navy (which is going to sz 6), capturing India and taking over Sidney. the SZ 6 move is to delay the Calcutta crush, drawing all eyes north.
-
@crockett36 did you open up my practice turns?
-
@crockett36 Not really. Of course, they can’t do all of that next turn. But, anything the US sends to SZ6 goes to the bottom at a very bad TUV exchange. Moreover, Japan doesn’t have to send the entire force to sink it.
So they are still in position to take India unless they turtle. So India will. Thus, with forces moved north to sink the us, J will finish off China.
These events take pressure off Australia, but 2 of 4 groups in Pacific are compromised… and nothing was gained.
-
The goal of these exercise games is to find strategies that don’t involve massive losses for no gain
-
I’m fine losing the US fleet at a loss…IF the other allies can destroy the remainder of the fleet so that net TUV is close. The Allies should have more IPCs and can regrow quicker.
-
@crockett36 This is such a pivotal turn for the Allies in the Pacific. You might want to take your saved game and continue it on to the Japanese turn as you have three areas that are under threat (India, China, Pacific fleet). Confirm that your unit positions meet your strategic desires as certain battles could be game-changing.
-
This is a sacrificial move into sz 6 with a projection of power by my entire air force, 10 units, 12 hit points in second wave. I do not think he can shrug this off. I will play it through to J3. Sidney this turn will be at 12 units all with offensive punch when positioned in the south so that is almost out of reach for the Japanese unless they commit everything. They can’t afford to do everything with Yunnan still in our control and an attack and capture of Sz 6. By the time they reform, Anzac will be above 20.
I consider Gibraltar annoying but a distraction.
