And it’s over…
A victory for the US Navy but not a lot left (2 of the 6 planes will have to crash into the sea unfortunately). Shame I carelessly lost all the ground troops the previous turn otherwise I might be able to cash in… It was a 50/50 battle according to the calculator so I have to be pleased with the result, my big fear was losing with enough IJN remaining to protect those transports whilst they take a lot of territory. -

You were unlucky that you had 3 kamikaze hit on the same cruiser and none on the other, over multiple rounds that remaining cruiser will ahve made some difference. I’d forgotten about the kamikaze. I think the US had the better of the dice.
There had been a long and intense naval arms race in the Pacific, it’ll be back to smaller (and shorter) sea battles for a while at least.
