  • @StickyBomb Well done, I think I’ll have to concede, Axis could grimly hang on for another couple of turns but it’s just prolonging the inevitable. We’ve had our fun raiding the West Coast. I’ve enjoyed this game and tried to give it my best shot. If you have any feedback on my play I’d be grateful to receive it.


  • @flyingbadger Well played indeed, very fun game :) I think my only feedback would be that the Japanese attack on China round 2 was just unnecessary. China was in a strong position, but not a game winning or even region winning position. The attack obviously went bad for Japan losing 4/5 planes more than average, but there was a good chance of that and I think that is what caused your downfall. If that attack goes poorly, it is game losing, even if it goes average its really a wash as you still on average are losing ~6 valuable Japanese planes. My opinion is that the Axis need not take that risk (at least that early).

    I am slowing down my level of play at the moment, but would love to rematch in the future. Best of luck in your other games :)

    Yeah, I’m trying to up my aggression in A&A as I can be too passive, but the risk/reward for that air attack was poor and it was a bad decision. Japan can lose a few planes but needs a large air force otherwise it is really limited.

    I know what you mean about the Allies, better players make you feel under pressure really early which then makes you buy more defensively with Germany and Italy. I have tended to waste Allied troops in small landings to grab objectivs but I feel it maybe be better to build up a little and make or threaten a large landing and plan on staying there.

    A couple of comments, but I’m not very experienced so they may not be too helpful. I thought you used the bid well and gained control of the Med very quickly. Not seen many other people but a battleship, especially early on. I was able to bomb Moscow on G3 as the Russian fighters were elsewhere (although they had already done good work in China). Russia fell back in good order and withstood the attack on Moscow whilst also helping the Chinese. You poured most of your early US money into the Pacific and I beleive that it is better for the US to do that than divide it’s IPCs between boards, but it did mean that on US4 you only had 2 transports ready to move across the Atlantic. You were very proactive with the US fleet and caused Japan a lot of trouble and reduced it’s income.

    A rematch in the future would be great, just get in touch whenever you are free. Good luck to you too!


  • @flyingbadger Ya the battleship buy was unusual for me, but it is a way to maximize Pacific output when there is no J1 so I wanted to try it. Not sure how I feel about it, will have to evaluate it in the future - appreciate the feedback :)
