  • @robson Started to look at Japan and realized the US moved the Phi fleet off of Iwo. Don’t believe the US, when neutral, can move adjacent to any Japanese held territory. Feel free to edit that move during the UKP turn.

  • @robson thanks. A couple of things as the rules are so complicated on the Pacific side:

    1. If you want the US Phi fleet to be somewhere else, you do have one move and can go to Autralia or toward India or can stay of course. Up to you. Just let me know and I will EDIT prior to the Japanese move.

    2. Noticed the UKP moved a AA gun into China. That results in a DOW against Japan. The TripleA engine doesn’t recognize this because it is a non-combat rule, but the rule book is clear on not allowing UK troops into china without a DOW. Let me know if you want the DOW or if you want to move with the other aa gun. Happy to move it for you.

    Sorry we have to go through all of this, but I find the Pacific side to be VERY complicated!


  • @kilroynothere oh you are absolutely right. I think the UK Pacific are not allowed to declare war before Japan does it or it is the forth turn.
    So I have to move the AA back.

  • @kilroynothere Hey, I was just reading the rules from YG and have found this in the handbook (https://www.axisandallies.org/forums/topic/36826/grasshopper-s-3g40-player-s-handbook/13) :

    Political Situation: UK Pacific begins the game at war with Germany and Italy, both of which are on the other side of world. The UK Pacific may declare war on Japan at the beginning of the Combat Move phase of it’s turn three, resulting in a state of war between Japan and both the United Kingdom Europe and Pacific.


  • @robson I have not read YG’s opening synopsis. Great way of putting it for each power! And yep, UKP can attack (Or move into China which results in a state of war) at anytime. There are advantages because it immediately gives UKP a 10ipc bump and the ability to build more units in India… I know when I played it I weighed that vs. US earlier involvement. Soooo many decisions early! Heck, I built a mnrIC for Germany… who does that? ;-)


  • @robson so I was wrong. After re-reading, UKP can only attack on round 3 unless attacked before. I mis-read that. Sooooo complicated!


  • @Robson also noticed that YG put in either 8 round OR a 10 round game, depending on the player’s desires. That changes things quite a bit for strategy I would think. Maybe next game we switch sides again and try for a 10 round and see how it goes. I’m real curious how YGs tournament goes with these rules and what the take-aways are from it.

  • @Robson I had to make an edit for a non-combat as I forgot to use a tt to move two inf from Manchuria. And Japan did NOT declare war… first time I’ve ever waited until round 3. Totally different game again!

    Hey Fellas, just passing through and I noticed you were able to move a UK Pacific unit into China before UK Pacific and Japan were at war. This shouldn’t be allowed. It looks like there may be a bug in the game code.

    I’ll make a note of it and hopefully fix it if I do an update in the future.
