    I didn’t really know 100% of the rules were for scrambling in PtV, I had a look and this is what I could find:

    In G40 there is only scrambling from coastal airbases to defend sea zones:

    A quick reaction team of no more than 3 defending fighters and/or tactical bombers (strategic bombers can’t scramble) located on each island or coastal territory that has an operative air base can be scrambled to defend against attacks in the sea zones adjacent to those territories. These air units can be scrambled to help friendly units in adjacent sea zones that have come under attack. From the 1940 2nd Ed rulebook

    Seems to be the same in BalancedMod:

    Scrambling Fighters and/or Tactical bombers can be scrambled from any territory bordering a sea zone, with an operating airfield (less than 3 damage) to help defend the surrounding sea zone using their standard defense values. They cannot retreat from scrambling (defenders can never retreat) and if the territory they were scrambled from is captured, they’re given one extra movement point to land on a friendly territory or open carrier. Scrambled air cannot participate in any other battles that round. From BalancedMod Notes

    Path to Victory added two more kinds of scrambling, carrier scrambling (to land and sea), and airbase scrambling to land:

    Land Scramble: An airfield may scramble up to three planes to adjacent land battles in which there are already defending units (i.e., no scramble option for otherwise uncontested territories).

    Carrier Scramble: A carrier may scramble one plane to battles in adjacent sea zones where there are defending surface warships or to battles in adjacent territories where there are defending units. From Path to Victory Notes

    There’s no mention of any changes to ‘Sea Scramble’. So my interpretation would be of scrambling in PtV would be:

    • Airbase to Sea Zones. Can scramble to defend any frendly unit.
    • Airbase to Land Territory. Can scramble if there is a defending unit already in that territory.
    • Carrier to Sea Zone. Can scramble if there are defending warships but not transports.
    • Carrier to Land Territory. Can scramble if there are defending units.

    I’m no authority so could be wrong. Happy to leave it as it is and play on anyway, the Aussies will declare vengance and not rest until all Japanese carrier planes are destroyed! :flag-au: :face_with_cowboy_hat:

    I think it would be fair to put your transport back in edit - I would not attack in that case.

    Thank you, that is kind. Hope it didn’t affect any of your other attacks? It has been a good learning experience for me to try to understand the different scrambling situations. I still don’t think I 100% understand scrambling / kamakazi for amphibious landings, and certainly not when allied marines are being transported!
