Last week work needed my attention.
There were 3 rookies present, so the club was crowded…8 players  8-)

Ghostglider (G/I) and Brian (J) won against John and Daniel.
In the other game Jakob and Svenning lost with the axis vs. Allan and Thomas.

This week it was time for me to shine securing a much needed win against Ghostglider.
By G2 the Royal Navy was annihilated and the Russians SBR´ed 16 down. End of story.
What…the japanese…oh…they kinda forgot to secure their Sumatra IC and ran into heavy fire in Manchuria destroying 4 Zeros thereby leaving the AC alone (and an easy australian-based US-bomber-target). I had him…buried…and then I give him the chance to come back :cry:
Allright…new plan…we´ll throw out Graf Z from the tournament ´cos he had to many no-shows. :|

Other games thursday;
John (axis) looked like he was beating Jakob.
Brian (G/I) and Frank (J) forced Allan to his knees 6th round (German and Japanese heavy bombers helped a lot) :-)

Semifinals thursday…ooops I did it again.
I had Ghostglider up against the wall, then I looked away for a second
and he was gone…Note to self…When ahead don´t hesitate.

Oh well…it´s just a game. Yeah right, didn´t sleep well thursday.

So in the final “the Usual Suspects” John vs. Ghostglider.

Meanwhile Allan (Allies) annihilated Jakob and Frank who gave up after 3 rounds.
Next game they had their revenge in a re-match.

Thursday 7 men present, including new-comer Emil.

2 games were played.

Ghostglider and Thomas (J) battled Allan and won after 7 rounds…give or take.

Bjergmose and Jakob (US) fought a long, hard game vs. Frank and Emil (J).
Japan developed long range and heavy bombers giving them supremacy over the entire pacific. But they were stopped outside Moscow, running out of ground troops.
Germany fought in a tight circle…too tight  :-D
US also had heavy bombers, but a costly 7th or 8th round attack almost let the axis back in the game. USA opted to bomb the last German armor in EPL but failed both tries. And when the SBR in both Germany and Italy ran into some serious flak USA had lost 3 Hbombers and hit nothing.
On the bright side Bjergmose had the privilege to buy a russian aircraft carrier w/2 ftr and a transport in the mediterranean. Once in a lifetime…but it wasn´t much use anyway.

Next week the finals… the old firm. Mano-a-mano. Last men standing.
Showdown in Valby. Rumble in the basement. This is it…the big one.

So yesterday…the finals.

Ghostglider vs. John

and fighting for bronze-medals…Bjergmose vs. Brian.

The top-spot is undecided. After 10 rounds and a new day on the horizon Fortress Europe was under pressure, but Japan had conquered everything from Tokyo to Stalingrad, sweeping Africa too. So next thursday we´ll all know much more…if 6 more hours is enough :-D

3rd prize…
Here is how it went *#¤#, ******** and then *¤%#"@.
Man, I was boiling inside. G1 Brian takes Karelia without any loss. Caucasus with 1 armor. UK1 goes after the Italian navy…nope. Germany keeps rolling. Rolling 1s and 2s that is.
I tried to disrupt the all-armor assault in Poland but Italy attacks with 2 inf vs 2 inf…winning without a loss off course. To add to the insult 2 italian inf threw the US inf and art out of algiers same round. Last grasp…RU3 trying to maintain a perimeter around Moscow with 3 armor vs. 2. When the smoke settled 1 german panzer brushed off the dust, and pointed towards Moscow. Game over.
Today after some thought, and a good nights sleep, it´s all good .  :-)
Brian always plays aggressive…he who dares gins…I mean wins. Hats of to a you Brian.

It only took an hour and a half to wipe the board with me (and my selfesteem), so we took a rematch. This time Brian tried the German navy option buying a trn and a carrier.
With a tech dice it left only 1 armor in Berlin. So when UK developed paratroopers it was an even shorter game…. 8-)

Allan and Frank (J) teamed up against Jakob in what looked like an axis victory when I left.

After next week we´ll start a new tournament…just have to figure out another cool name for it.

So once again…Ghostglider takes the spotlight.
After 12 rounds John had to admit defeat. He said that only extreme luck could turn it around. So Scandinavian Cup winner Ghostglider (with a 6-0 record this year).

Now…once more into the breach.
This time it will be bigger…better…This time it will be European Cup :-D …European Cup 2010.

A few changes. A pre-bid dice throw will decide if;
1;The Dardanelles is closed.
2;Escorts and interceptors is allowed.
1-3 they are implemented, 4-6 no-go.
One dice/optional rule. Making the games a little different.

So last night. 1st round.
I had the chance to avenge my beating last week playing the Axis vs. Brian.
He did seem tired, but it still counts as a win for me.
He managed to overlook the famous Italian sucker-punch, leaving Moscow German in 3rd round. It looked like he was able to bounce back, but the japanese sealed the deal giving the Axis a 6th round victory.

Allan looked like he was winning after 4 rounds of slow-paced mayhem  :-)
Frank played the axis, a -6 bid with Dardanelles closed.

So. Last thursday (been sick…sorry) another round of AAAction.

I had the great luck to play against Ghostglider. I wasn´t really into the game, maybe  feeling sick, maybe the fact that he stomped me twice allready this year.
I tried to press the attack after a good G1 turn from Ghostglider, but it was to no avail.
4 rounds and Moscow was overrun. But at least the hardest game is over for me.

The 2 brothers Allan and John battled it out on the other table. After 7 rounds the Axis (Allan) had claimed bragging rights against his brother.

A visit from our long lost leader Kenneth provided a possibility to dust of the revised table.
Kenneth beat Frank twice  :-o

10 danish axis players battled it out yesterday.
10  :-o Soon we´ll be fighting to get a chair not a victory :-D

I had the chance to beat John, but once more I played the allies to aggressive.
That combined with Johns huge amount of luck was my downfall.
My plan is to save up a little luck for the play-offs, but maybe I should focus
on getting there first  :-)

Ghostglider played the Axis vs. Frank, who is still in search of his first solo-win, but that
game got postponed ´cos Ghostglider had to go home and nurse his wife  :-(

Allan and Brian had not finished when I left, but Brian looked like he (especially the Russians) had the upper hand.

3 rookies showed up and along with Jakob (US) Dan played against Shawn (G) and Klaus.
Jakob couldn´t use his vast experience to triumph and the Shawn/Klaus axis started unbeaten.  :-)

Yesterday;

6 men…3 games.

Game1 John took out Frank in 4 rounds playing the axis with a -10 bid, but that didn´t stop him from ruling the world  :-)

Game2 the undefeated Allan (3-0) was up against the always undefeated Ghostglider (like a 1000-0). Ghostglider haven´t lost a game since the 17th of sept…something like a 20-game winning streak. And it continued yesterday. 8 or 9 rounds and Allan was gone.
Who will stop Ghostglider :?

Game3 a close game. Bjergmose prevailed in the end against Jakob…but only securing a small victory in the 10th round. 11 VC vs 7 VC. Germany took Moscow G3 after the italian-hole-tactic (that a US ftr would´ve stopped :roll:).Germany ended bottled up in Europe, but Japan managed to finish with 1 inf in Los Angeles. As always Bjergmose complained about his lack of luck  :cry:

Tuesday Ghostglider finished his game vs. Frank with a 10th round win. Frank almost took control of USA, but failed to secure Central US destroying Ghostglider, in what would have been a major upset. :-o
And VicePresident Jonas showed up for the first game of the year, playing PAC vs Jakob.
Jonas wasn´t updated on the sub/dd rules, giving him a BIG surprise. Jakob won after 4 rounds. 8-)

Late update.
Had to wait…Brian forgot to write how his game went.
I assumed he´d lost since he didn´t reply…but no.

Brian played the allies against Jakob and won in the 9th round,
taking both Rome and Berlin  :-D

I played the allies against Ghostglider (G) and Frank (J).
And I had everything under control, looking for that elusive win
against the Ghostglider. But nooo. Emperor Frank decided to go all-tech…
1 dice = 1 tech = long range = wrecking up my game-plan in Europe.
So I lost  :x

But at least I got a win against Ghostglider at daak.de.
I beat him with the allies in their Anniversary-tournament.
Luckily we agreed that it should count in our club-records  8-)

Quick update.

Haven´t played all week but the guys still battled it out.
Tuesday and thursday.

Tuesday John beat Jakob in another close game.
A 10th round win secured 3 points to John.

An a sensation….Frank got a win by himself. 1st time in da club  :mrgreen:
He won against Brian (G) and Allan (J). Now the sky´s the limit for young mr.Frank 8-)

Thursday Jakob (Ax) was overrun by Allan (All). Yamato was sunk outside the Phillipines J1 and when US developed LRange 1st round the japanese was never seen again :cry:

Ghostglider got his confidence back after his daak.de defeat (by me if I forgot to mention it…even when I´m not playing I can still taunt…maybe I should retire…undefeated against Ghostglider since the 20th of march…some sort of trophy might be in order…oops ranting again :-o) and beat up Frank in a short game.

Long time no write…

Lotsa games last thursday (easter day-off).
And 3 games tuesday and possibly a couple of games yesterday (friday).

Tuesday John played allied vs. Jonas (in 1 of his rare appearances) and Frank (G) and won.

The 2 brothers John and Allan will meet in the other semi-final.

We talked about changing the 10 rounds VC-count system and decided to opt for a
10 rounds (or 8 rounds) game and then it´ll be judged; is it a draw or a victory to either side. That will eliminate the weird final rounds in our current tournament when the focus is entirely on VC. But still a 13 VC win during the game and still a lost capitol equals defeat.

Finally Frank was back from Poland so we could finish our tournament.

Frank played the allies (5 bid) and even though I never was in seroius trouble the Germans was pushed a little too far back, but managed to survive ´till the japs knocked on Moscows backdoor. 6 rounds and Frank gave up.
This was my 50th AE50 game face-to-face.
My score after 50 games you ask….27-19-4…0.560 not too bad considering the fact I am playing against the best players in the world every week  :roll:

On the other table Ghostglider managed 2 victories vs. John and Jakob in 3 hours or so.
A huge amount of luck wiped the axis of the board in no time.

Last week Bjergmose beat Jakob and Ghostglider/Allan found out that a 12-ipc bid was too much to give John.

1st semi-final;
the #1 seed Ghostglider vs #4 Bjergmose. And the winner is….Bjergmose. Ghostglider tried the German turtle-option but his Luftwaffe couldn´t survive long enough to keep the UK away. And when the Russian 7 inf into Manchuria 2nd round strategy paid off it was all downhill from there. Berlin fell UK4 and was retaken. Rome fell US6 and was retaken, but it was only a matter of time…so G8 Ghostglider faced the facts and surrendered.

2nd semi-final;
#2 Allan battled # 3 John and it looked like John will face Bjergmose in the finals.

Jonas played vs. Frank. They played revised w/lotsa xtra rules. Jonas seemed to have the upperhand…maybe ´cos Frank couldn´t manage all the new rules  :|

I don´t know if it´ll be the revised ++ version for the Danish Championship in october.
It is not in my power to decide that  :cry:

But our little club is bursting with gaming energy. Tuesday and thursday are open for Danish gamers world-wide  :?
Unfortunately I don´t get all the results, so my club-record will never be complete  :-(

So the finals are over…and the winner is John.
He took Moscow G3 with no chance for the red army to reconquer.
A strong push vs Caucasus G2 resulted in 6 armors holding Cau.
A desperate counter attack to soften up…or with a little luck kill the panzers
failed miserably. 5 inf and 2 art scored zero hits while the panzers hit 4 times.
This sealed the deal, but the russians tried to defend Moscow. But no.
Euro Cup champion 2010…JOHN.

Ghostglider and Allan played a game of my-stack-is-bigger-than-yours,
so when I left the room…crying…nothing was settled.  :-)

Frank and Jakob battled it out on the 3rd board and this game also looked close
when I left.  :-)

Now we need to figure out what our next tournament will be called…
it is going to be huge…the name anyways  :-D

Finally the losers settled their game. After 15 rounds of stacking they had to come to a conclusion…the giant chip-stacks almost touched the ceiling  :roll:
Ghostglider won 3rd place after a battle that involved 42 japanese tanks.

John won against Jakob…according to Jakob this was a close game, but tech
helped John win.  :-)

I fought a tough match against Frank, who managed to continue the fight eventhough I
took Caucasus G2 with 6 arm and 2 rt. The struggle continued around Caucasus and at one point Berlin struggled to stay alive…but in the end the japanese won the game.

John allready beat Brian in the playoffs, so I have to face the mighty
Ghostglider (when his newborn axis-player allows it).

We have started a new club called “Hovedstadens Axis and allies forening”
something like “Capitol city AA aasociation”.
Any danes out there watching…write me. 8-)

Last night John beat me. I am 0-7 against this guy…this is getting on my nerves.
I played Axis. G2 and the game was finished. I know I know a risky move but I remember
the old saying “when in doubt…attack” Patton.
So I opted to take out the allied fleet buying some time…you all know the drill.
1 sub 3 ftr 2 bmb vs. 1 dd 1 ac 2 cru 2 ftr…a fair fight.
I scored 2 hits and John scored 6 hits. And to top it off he rolled exactly 2 x 2, 2 x 3 and 2 x 4. I had bought a ftr  a bmb and a sub to secure my domain G3. But nooo.

In the other game Frank lost after his usual good start against Allan (G) and Jakob (J).
Maybe Frank would benefit from a tournament with games lasting only 4 rounds :lol:

2010…status report;

122 AE50 games played in HaaF.
62 axis 55 allied 5 tied

We played last wednesday at Ghostgliders house.
Ghostglider lost the final vs. John.

At the other table Jakob and I played and won vs. Allan.
Then John secured another victory vs. Allan
and Jakob handed over Moscow to Ghostglider G3 giving Ghostglider and me and easy win.
Ye old italian-sucker-punch still works :-D

So Jakob wanted a rematch vs Ghostglider and me. After 11 rounds the allied had a minor advantage but failed to secure the win. A failed landing in France helped Germany breathe again and with another 5 or 6 rounds on the horizon we agreed to call it a tie.

1 - Ghostglider…34-11-3  A couple of early europe losses and 2 Blind losses vs John makes Ghostglider look human…he is not :evil:
2 - John…37-15-1  My arch-enemy. Won both our tournaments but has a lower percentage than #1.
3 - Allan…25-24-2  Wins 50% of his games. Never satisfied with his dices  :roll:
3 - Bjergmose…19-19-1  Wins 50% of his games. Too modest to claim 3rd place for himself. Great guy  :lol:
5 - Brian…14-19    Surprise 3rd place in latest tournament. Lost 4 in row. Maybe 2011 will be his year  :?
6 - Frank…17-28-3  Still in search of his 1st tournament win. Finished strong.
7 - Jakob…12-28-1  Worst percentage but better 1-on-1 record than  Frank. Is gone to the big dice-game in Afghanistan most of the year. Safe return and I´ll give you a better spot next year  :-)

Thursday kick-off in the European cup 2011

New tournament new bidding rules.
Now it is possible to upgrade units allready on the map giving the allies
a slightly bigger punch in the 1st round.
Example; 1 inf converts to 1 rt = 1
             1 inf converts to 1 arm = 2
So the bids will be lower (I think) but the options will be higher (in the beginning anyways).

3 great games;
John played vs. Frank with the usual result. Frank starts out strong but fails to land that 1st tournament victory  :cry:
Brian played vs. Allan and it looked like Allan would win this when I left.
And Bjergmose vs. Ghostglider. This is a new season and I´ve made a new years resolution to step it up  :-D No more early 50-50 attacks against the Royal Navy… no more 50-50 assaults at the gates of Moswcow. And it worked. Great game vs Ghostglider. I had 3 german aircraft carriers before my panzer took Moscow G9.
The russians had liberated India´s ic and occupied the FIC ic but ran out of steam.

Last thursday;
Ghostglider played against Frank and won his first game this tournament. Frank is still looking for that first victory.

Bjergmose played the allies vs Brian. I tried to upgrade the russia/japan border and attack Manchuria 1st round. Not a smart move. The game rolled back and forth. For a long time the allies had the upper hand, but IFP helped japan push forward from India.
After round 10 the score was 9-9 in VC and with a small advantage to the axis. Germany held Caucasus, but only had troops in Berlin and Caucasus. UK and US controlled the sea so after some discussion we called it a draw. The chinese fighter was still alive and China never conquered  8-)

Last thursday….wait for it…Frank won  :-o
His first tournament victory in his 10th game.
Brian and Frank almost tied, but Frank managed to take moscow
after 10 rounds and 7 hours of play.

In a training match Ghostglider beat the Brothers Grimm Ravn.

Last night John took it out on Bjergmose (GI) and Frank. A bad G1 and J2
made it impossible for the axis to win. Give John an inch he´ll take the game :-)

Ghostglider bounced back vs Allan. When I left ´round G5 it looked like Allan
would win his 3rd tournament game in a row. Japan was down to 3 countries and the
UK had an income around 70 but still the Germans managed to save the day and conquer Moscow.
