Yes, I wouldnt do the landing (in full force) if I couldnt keep it against a counterattack. I knew it would be 85%, thats why I was (a little) bit surprised this morning, I figured you could win, but with perhaps 1 unit remaining, that would be a ftr or so. That would have meant that you could have destroyed the landing party, but I would still have the territory. But with 4 hits on the first attack, I am not afraid of the 15% now ;)

You should always look at what your opponent is transporting, act accordingly in response. Either have your airforce back in time, or build up enough units in france/west germany for the counterattack. The landing is dangerous and expensive for germany, seeing it has lost the bonus for holland/normandy and because now you have to spend a lot of money and forces to retake it, which were of better use in against Russia.

Well the airbase can be a good idea sometimes, it gives you more mobility and extra defensive power (on land and sea). In this case it was rather pointless.
I feel its always a good idea to play ahead, test out certain scenario’s. I testplay in local, set the opponent to hard AI, sometimes the AI makes a move that I didnt expect and I can take counter measures.Always think one or two or more steps ahead, like with building facility’s. The when and where is very important. For example the airbase at Yugo can be usefull in one seazone (99) only, if you would have build a airbase in Greece for example you would have coverage of 3 seazones (99, 101, 102)
Of course the Yugo airbase gives a lot of coverage on land, but a attack there will not happen very often.

Ill give you a little trick for your G40 game.
Always try to take Greece in R1 with Italy, so that you can land the German bombers (2/4 depends on your R1 purchase, think about 2 bombers and 1 sub) there in R2. You then build a airbase in greece in R2 with Italy (remember that it will cost 15, so you most have that amount to spend) Also have 1/2 armors ready to take Eastern Poland in R2 with Italy.
So now you have a airbase which will give your bombers extra reach, you have a landing spot in Eastern Poland. Most likely your opponent will assume Moscow is save against SBR and has its planes in Leningrad. That are the kind of surprises that will give you the edge over your opponent. Further more your Italian fleet has much benefit of the airbase, seeing it can use that as protection when you land forces in Syria. -
