You have some interesting house rules. Thank you for the suggestion.

@ultramarineblue1 Very ingenious, I’ll be testing out your setup someday- would adding the UK African units be detrimental to your house rules?

@corpo24 Hey you Bum!!!👅
Easy now. He’s probably screwing off and at another baseball game !
-
@nolimit I didn’t include the UK African units because they are presumably busy fighting the Germans (and historically, did not get sent to the Pacific Theater!)
-
@ultramarineblue1 Oh, but we did keep the two infantry in Syria/Iraq to give the Indian transport something to do as an option for the UK! Gives more flexibility to UK!
-
@corpo24 Europe is a little more tricky, since it has become standard that Japan and Germany have to work together to defeat the USSR. Removing the right Pacific section of the three game board panels would only deprive the USSR player of 3 IPCs (a small sacrifice for the ability to focus all of your energy against the Germans).
We will need to playtest the European theater some more–the goal would be to be as faithful to the original in-the-box rules of Anniversary Edition while making the game evenly balanced!

Hey cubbie fan 🐻! Down and front! 🤪 -
@gen-manstein
I got tickets for this weekend! Giants and Marlins lol 😛 -
@ultramarineblue1
I completely understand. So I had my play test with your setup and Japan dominated the pacific. Allies still need help. Japan has the navy and air force dominance and America making in the twenties ain’t going to cut it. Just one play test though. Will try again soon -

@corpo24 Hey Giant fan ⚾, Down (As in Short 🦐) and Back in the Standings… Waaay Back!!!🤡
-
@corpo24 Had a feeling that might be the case, which is why I previously asked about the UK starting with the African units!!!

@nolimit
💯! Allies need help! Send in C reinforcements from San Francisco! Lol 😂 -
@gen-manstein
Same! Talk soon 🎲 👍 -
@nolimit
Lmao! 🤪🎲 -
Hey, this looks very interesting, BUT I think the Allies stand little chance since the UK cannot put any units on the table in time. They start first, granted that, but having to build an IC first will just spell disaster on India. Japan has 5 transports, 10 units in total, and using all their fighters, India should fall turn 2 or 3.
But I will gladly try this one out and maybe I will be proven wrong!
-
I’m only seeing this now, but it looks pretty cool! However, it seems pretty unbalanced overall. A lot of this comes from the fact that Japan is no longer fighting the Soviet Union and that the UK doesn’t have much recourse when it comes to fortifying the front lines. Here are a couple of changes I would make to this setup:
-
Set China to its OOB 1942 Setup: China already gets steamrolled in a standard game, but with Manchuria free? Woof. With more units at China’s wing, while they may still get beaten badly, at least it isn’t as terrible as it could be.
-
Give the UK an Industrial Complex in India: Due to Britain not having the resources to garrison their land, give one IC to India! According to your Turn Order, this may end up impacting Japan’s initial spread. To fix this…
-
Japan Goes First: This basically gives us the OOB turn order, with Japan going first, Britain going second, America going third, and the Chinese going fourth. This is simply a more effective turn order when it comes down to Japan’s initial expansion.
Haven’t playtested these changes yet, but they should improve the balance of this variant to a degree.
(Also, sorry if this counts as necroposting. I didn’t want to create an entire new topic just for my personal thoughts on this post.)
