@Private-Panic lucky dog is up as Austria. The French army was itching for a big battle instead of just border skirmishing. So, I thought to spread the pain around, rather than just against Germany. So, I stripped 9 gas & cav from Rhine to give me 91% odds on Tyrol. But the Austrians rolled +6 above average and I had to retreat to Switz. Sorry Von Trapp family, I couldn’t save Edelweiss.

@elrood First strike feature failed to activate in your sea battle. I tested an Italian attack offline, edited to include a sub and land battle with gas, and neither performed first strike in battle. Anybody have a suggestion how to solve this?

PP and Elrood, please start a new offline game of 1914 on your computers and have Germ fleet sz12 attack sz16 and Rhine troops and gas in Sax attack Belg; and see if you get first strike battle dice. Have you noticed this problem in your other 1914 games? When I started the first game as Germ and Witt started the second game as Germ, it worked correctly. PP what is your engine # and game map number?

Witt and I also have a 1on1 going of the game and never had such issues.this first strike issues started in the other game after PP made his first move. So I am a little bit suspecting his engine is corrupting the savegames somehow.

PP, please test a new offline game on your computer with a G1 sea battle with a sub; and a land battle with the Ger gas. If no first strike, you may have to delete and re-download Triplea.

The sub missed so cannot tell if a hit would have been first strike. But the Gas did not roll.

@private-panic Could you check if the bug still exists?
- start a new game and let all available Subs attack somewhere and also use german Gas to check if first strike works now generally.
if that passes OK, then:
- load the last savegame we have here (austrian go), edit / add a few Italian Subs in and Gas as well and let those attack some targets, to check if our instance of the game still corrupted (which i guess it is), but we can check it to be sure.

Once the rest of us used the corrupted file, it stayed corrupted for us also. Editing all changes from a good G1 to an updated A1 is impractical. Allies and Axis will start building DD’s, making first sub strike rare. Most sea battles will be small, so we can manually adjust. Most land battles won’t use gas. My suggestion is: when attacking player uses gas, post to forum after tech roll/combat moves. If possible, click re-post after purchases. Do combat for gas battle first, and only first round. Save game manually (upper left corner). Close the game. Reload saved game for online, edit remove all gas and # of defenders based on gas hits. End edit and continue combat normally for that battle and all others. May have to manually calculate adjustment for subs and bombardment, but not gas.

@private-panic Yes, likely Rommel is right, but I prefer have Adam test it first.
And if it is still not working properly i would vote for a new game. I do not care for the hassle of constant editing.
