Since there are des present in the defence, the sub doesn’t have first-strike. Also, there are plenty of ships around, so I’d say the sub should be part of the overall power.
Changing it to a des before the battle should be an easy solution, but you have to do it before or during CM.
If you haven’t a relevant save at hand there are autosaves which work fine.
Send up the german air.
I am also considering to change the pacific NCM, but that should not influence your decision in the med. Just to be transparent.
