    Yes, the map is bigger, especially in Russia/Chi territory. Getting more realistic that way. Read the rules and notes about this game carefully, there are a couple of things different from the G40 gaming experience. Like unit cost and capabilties.

    The political situation is also with the new National Objectives and the Mongolian dispute.

    Normally (G40) I wouldnt build a airbase first round, but like you mention its a great way too boost your defense (it can protect 5 territory’s plus a seazone), further more its a great way to increase the reach of the aircrafts so they can go almost anywhere they are needed in the future.
