That went unexpectedly well but I am not sure it will be enough.
@simon33 yeah. I was hoping to at least make the Italian air pay for that if not discourage the attack all together. But you really had no choice I think.
And yeah, it certainly helps you but it might not be enough at this point. This has been quite a tough game but I feel I have finally managed to contain Germany and Japan. Its Italy that is out of control which is unusual.
I was surprised how much not buying a naval base for Japan early on hurt. Not being able to buy more ships in sz6 in most turns has been really fatal for them.

I don’t really think so. I got India J4 an kept it J5. Getting it 1 turn earlier than normal makes it less necessary to built ICs on Asia which become a sink of Japan’s IPCs.
Another issue though was not defending the Caroline Islands.
@simon33 Certainly if you can hold Caroline longer and take India early than you shouldn’t face the same problems with building navy. Of course it is often hard to do both.
