A. In the Pacific
For the Japanese, an area of conflict are the 'money islands ’ (Sumatra, Borneo, Celebs, Java) . These are called the money islands because not only do they add a lot of points to your Toal, but having all 4, gains Japan another 5 pt bonus. This gives the Japanese 20 PU’s total for owning all 4.
Also, taking Malaya (which you should get next turn), not only gives you 3 PU’s, it also subtracts 3 PU’s from UKAsia and 5 PU’s bonus form ANZAC- that’s an 11 point swing.
Keeping Dutch New Guinea out of the hands of ANZAC removes 5 PU’s form their bank roll.
Denying just one of the following = India-Burma-Yunan- Szechwan(which you have done a great job with) keeps a 6PU bonus from the Chinese, while also denying them the ability to purchase Artillery .
India is the easiest Major objective to take and hold. You , if you wish the Japanese to win the game, need 2/3 of India, Hawaii, New South Wales
Invading Russia next to Mongolia is precarious, it can be done, but could involve a lot of problems. You have done well to not do it. If you DO decide to do it, just make sure the Mongolians can’t hurt you.
Taking any of the Russian territories NOT touching Mongolia is helpful to Germany.
Always make sure that Japan is safe. The Kamikazee are super helpful against surface ships, but they do NOT protect against subs, airplanes or transports.
B. In Europe/Africa
Occupying SZ 125 OR ArchAngel will deny 5 PU’s to Russia
Treat your territories next to SZ’ that have airfields as aircraft carriers . Both W. Germany and S. Italy can add 3 planes ot any sea battle. PU’s are pretty precious in Europe, so you CAN build more airfields, but your money may be better spent elsewhere.
If possible, which is a big IF, try to keep the Med clear of Allied ships. Italy gets a 5 PU bonus for that. Likewise, IF possible, try to have a piece of UK territory- that will also deny them a 5PU bonus. These can be done early in the game (rounds 1-3), but is almost impossible later in the game.
Once you have subdued Russia and taken all 3 of their key cities, you will be left with a choice of London or Alexandria. My preference s Alexandria. Doing so will leave you with a large army. That will make it easier to take Alexandria than UK. Also, UK is hard to hold, unless Russia has been neutered AND you can keep the US NAVY at bay. Doing both of those is difficult.
