The wire mesh was added late in the war. It detonates panzerfaust and similar weapons inches from the main armor. This also serves well to stick camo in.
Winter-weary T-34s

I’ve made winterized (whitewashed) Soviets before, but nothing like this. Requested with “worn nearly off” instead of a more freshly applied look. And I had T-34s to do for more than 1 order, so I made thme both this way. One has a little more detail than the other, but aside from battle damage on one, the differences are minor. The extra detailed one has several more layers. Process for these is too complicated to give a step by step. But I can say they were a series of layers of wet brushing, damp-brushing, dry-brushing, ink washes, watered paint washings, etc, over and over. I took scans of only a few different stages.
