Sorry about the edit. Need to pay more attention to what the default casualties are.

@andrewaagamer no worries.
-
I just realized you used the tripleA version that is heavily bugged to create this game.
Whenever you run the battle calculator with a sub involved, the client crashes. There are plenty of other bugs, for example:
If a German and a British sub are in 125 at the same time, the client does not ask either of them whether they want to submerge but starts a battle right away. (this will cause necessary edit because you cannot prevent the client from running the battle even if no sub wants to fight)The latest version I installed is 2.0.19993 and it was ok, but I also lost track of which version is out there and which to avoid exactly.
Just to let you know we have the bugged version now.
-
Hmm, it is even worse than I thought. I just ran a test in 106 and I attacked with sub, DD and bomber against the 2 subs.
My sub would have had a surprise strike against the German subs, but the client rolled all 3 dice at the same time, one of the “2s” hit but it was not specified which one it was.So the bugs are not just annoying, the prevent running battles properly. What shall we do about that?
Shall we recreate the current position with a proper version of the client? -
Just realizes it is me. I will update my client asap!
-
Boy, I went on https://triplea-game.org/download/
and I cannot properly download the client there. It just takes forever and my internet is fine, not sure what’s wrong :-/
I will sort it out either way, but just annoying atm.
-
@jdow You should make sure to install whatever version Andrew is using. If you mix versions that can cause problems.
Issues with calculators and rules seem to be map and version specific. One version might work ok with one map but then not work with another map. So you might have just run into this problem because you are running a new map for this game (OOB).
Also, updating the client wont fix anything. If you start a game with one version and switch versions the problems will migrate. Only way to fix if you are having problems is to move to a client without issues and restart the game. (easy to do since you are only halfway thru first round).
-
@ksmckay Thanks a lot for the support, much appreciated. Restarting the game may be necessary as the bugs are not just annoying, they prevent us from running battles properly.
But even IF we start a new game. Which version should we use?
As said, atm I am unable to download the latest version of the client from https://triplea-game.org/download/
-
I am on version 2.5.22294

Yep, the errors are debilitating and dealing with it down the road becomes extremely challenging. I imagine Andrew has a good sense of which version works well with OOB and should know a version that doesnt suffer from the bugs since he uses it.
-
Zur Not P@nther verständigen.Sorry for my interruption in german, but this is for me the fastest way to adress the issue. Thank you for understanding.
-
@aequitas-et-veritas thanks a lot mate. But where to download 20868?
-
I now downloaded 2.2.20868 but the problem with our current game file persists as ksmckay already predicted.
However, when I start a G40 game from scratch the program does e.g. not crash when I run the battle calculator with subs involved.
As we are still in turn 1, I will now start a new game, redo the turns until after J1 and edit the battle outcomes to the ones we had so far and then proceed with US1
Annoying, but seems to be the only way.

in my game against andrew I can not recreate any of the problems described by @JDOW . I am on version 2.5.22294
-
@oysteilo I guess the reason is that I had a rather old build installed 2.0.19993.
It seems with the newer version we should be fine
-
@jdow mixing versions can cause problems too. If Andrew is using the latest version, why not use the same one?
