  • all right, good game! I have nothing here. what did I do wrong?

  • '15 '14

Trulpen is a tough cookie as Axis. He tends to make big mistakes from time to time but if he does not, his Axis is hard to beat.

  • '15 '14

Although the resignation looks a bit premature to me. I guess you surrender because Egypt falls? I did not run the numbers.
But so far, India is fine, Chinese still alive, IT fleet gone, Beachhead in Normandy, and still a good TUV lead.

It may happen that the Axis will overpower the Allies from here, but I would not have resigned at this point yet as Allies.

  • @JDOW so you think i should continue?

  • He will make 90 next round. He can just build build and build. Thats why

  • '15 '14

Yeah, you need to make something happen. But b4 resigning you may make a bold move or throw out a bait hoping for bad dice or so.

Maybe there is nothing you could do from here.
Regarding your question, what you may have done wrong:

    • No chance to put better defense at Egypt?
    • Re Europe. US should always have a bomber in UK to threaten deactivating the AB. Without the AB, UK could kill the German fleet.

Tiny details. At this level, they may decide the game. Is Egypt a tough to crack fortress or can the Germans just take it “en passant” while choking the Russians?
The typical usual dynamic is that the Germans have to give Russia lots of freedom if they go hard for Egypt.

But as said, if Axis is played well, Allies have a hard time.

Tell me about it. Don’t know how many times I’ve lost Berlin.

Kairo is utterly lost, which is a very tough blow for UK. Also means G may, with some italian help, run amok in Africa and also safely controls the ME. Priority is to reapply serious pressure on Russia, which from now on will get on a very tough ride. The Allies won’t be able to bring in much reinforcements to Moscow, which means the capital is likely toast soon. G will soon have above 100 income.

Not boosting Africa and ME enough was perhaps the key mistake for the Allies?

The Allied fleet is rather strong in z110 and control of Normandie pretty sound.

I was choosing between building that late fleet or letting it be. Had the option though to control z112, which I think is a very important task for G. The US might very well bomb the WG ab soon, but I won’t put myself in a position where it matters.

UK-Pac and China is still alive, but J is coming on strong. JN is massive and also looks good on the main-land.

Anyway, I don’t mind neither a resignation och continuance.

  • Differentiated TUV-analysis

    Before G8

    Structure Axis TUV Allies TUV
    MIC 4 120 6 180
    mIC 8 96 6 72
    ab 9 135 15 225

    Total 30 486 41 687
    Units Axis TUV Allies TUV
    - - - - -
    293 1576 344 1861

  • How should africa and MA have been boosted? I think that is easy critisism. I could have taken iraq differently and gained a complex there earlier. I am not at the map now but Egypt is not that weak. Its about 35 to 40 units there next round, if i stay, its not that bad.

  • And i think i could have gained Normandie one round earlier. I did not understand the table

Yes, an early mIC in Persia would’ve helped. Also being able to send in some more air, but most of it is occupied now by Normandie. Kairo is rather strong, but not strong enough in this instance against the panzar and luftwaffe.

The table is just a separation of units. There are structures and then fighting units. Looking at the total TUV is a bit misleading, since usually the Allies have more of structural TUV in their batch.

What we can see though is that the Allies does have 285 more TUV of fighting units. This gap will likely close now that both G and J are expanding at the expense of primarily R, UK and Ch.

  • I could have put more fighter to Egypt at the risk of bombing raids nsybe that is the thing

  • More air would be good. Kairo is more important than avoiding SBR. Probably also building more mechs in SA or get a tr-shuttle in place, which however might get a bit fragile at times.

  • Of course, with more air in Cairo G wouldn’t have had to invest as heavily in fleet and stack as much air by WG, so more air would come into the attack. That’s however an analysis of the short-term.

  • all right. all air should have ben in kairo. so then rusian would have been lost. I dont know. I resign

how would a minor in persia have helped? I never find that helpfulf. Iraq is a much stronger position combined with egypt. Persia is only helpful if you can deny NW persia

I am not a big fan of a Persia IC as you build it for the Germans. I utilize the SA factory as good as I can. I saw that Oysteilo built quite some units there, so there are the following tools at your disposal:

    • Kill the Italians in Africa with the India TT in UK1
    • Build even a bit more in SA
    • You may build the Persia IC, lose it later but get about 9 extra inf out there
    • Build more US figs
    • And last but not least, there is the big move, that often is required to hold egypt: Swing the 110 fleet over and bring reinforcements from UK

The last move should make an attack at Egypt very unattractive or make it even inpenetrable.
From there, the Allies lifeline depends on creating some counterpressure on the Axis. Egypt may be safe but without pressure from 110, Axis can storm Moscow

At this point, it is all about the details on how many units you have, and if you could steal some tempo from the Axis etc.

  • Yes, UK has a hard time utilizing 3 mICs in the area, but 2 are good. I usually prefer the factory-complex of Iraq + Persia. They’re then supporting eachother.

If you however go for an immediate mIC in Cairo, then I’d also prefer Iraq.

Most important here though was to be able to boost the number of units before the german invasion and for that effect I think Persia would’ve been good enough. You are usually able to build that mIC one turn earlier, which is a big plus.

I checked the history and, on a superficial level, I was wondering about the following:

    1. Your fleet sat too long in 98. Preferably the Allies defend Egypt against Italy even without moven the fleet at all and to it with air only (killing the Italians South of Egypt UK1 helps)
    2. Tiny detail, but inf+aa could have been brought to Egypt in Uk2 (Defend Gib somehow, but these 2 units belong to Egypt imo)
    3. I do not understand why you did not murder the Italian fleet in Uk4. Even against the scramble you had overwhelming odds and I would not hesitate a second if I could kill 4!!! German planes against the scramble.

All together the Germans were too long left alone without any counter pressure which allowed them to achieve both, keep Russians choked AND bring enough mech to the middle east.
As said, in the end, if is not just these single things, but the some of all little things that change the big picture.

But in the end, I have to say: Axis is so strong: If I played myself, I may not stand a chance against my own Axis.
