    Ok, so something weird happened here. Perhaps its my fault for not having asked for OOL in the battle, but I figured it was pretty much a foregone conclusion so wasn’t paying attention. For some reason, the TripleA engine did not offer the SS as a casualty in Round 1, and as a result it stayed in battle. Then, of course i chose the DD as a casualty on my side thinking the SS was no longer in the battle. In the end, though I was left with the units necessary to sink you Transports, the SS was still there and I wasn’t able to land my troops. Takea look at the battle dice and give me your assessment, but had I asked you for your OOL, I would guess you would’ve chosen the SS as the 2nd casualty (after tipping your BB). Not sure what to do on this but looking for suggestions…


  • By SS you mean sub? It looks like you only hit with planes on that first round (I wish the dice and units pairing in TripleA were more clear and that I could walk through the battle in the history). When you retreated the transport away from my sub then I think you lost the ability to take out the transports with your bomber. If you want to swap out your transport/art pair for my transports then I’d be fine with that.

    Yes, I only hit with planes, but I had a Destroyer with me in the battle, which means those planes could hit the sub - isn’t that correct? That’s the first conundrum / error with the battle engine.

    The second error was even though my Bomber was the only unit left, I should’ve at least been able to take out your Transports, but the engine just kept me rolling the bomber against the sub, over and over. That’s when I retreated. That was the second error in the engine.

    The third error was that when I retreated, I somehow lost one of my transports while the other survived and I was able to retreat it.

    But essentially, the sub should’ve died in the first exchange in Rd 1 due to the presence of my destroyer in the battle. Therefore it wouldn’t have been around later to stop my amphibious invasion. Unless you believe that you could see the future and know the battle was going to be so close that keeping your sub around (and me taking my Destroyer as a casualty) would mean stopping the invasion. I believe that is unlikely.

    My preference would be to re-roll altogether, or take the sub out and proceed with the invasion, leaving only my bomber in the sea zone and the two transports.

    Other suggestions?
