@mainah Yeah…I felt a bit mean doing that. Gib is really really important for the allies to hold.
You had the right idea taking it back, but a more experienced player would have built an airbase there on the UK turn and then have flown the fighters from london down to provide air cover for the fleet and to have beefed the garrison up. Attacking W Africa was probably a stretch too far as well. With 4 ground units and 3 fighters in gib on end of UK2 Italy couldnt have taken it giving no landing spots for the german air force.
The DD you built in canada would have been better used as a blocker in the channel as well.
The first game against a live player instead of the computer is a big learning curve!

Yes it is. Dont feel mean. I really appreciate the advice and the after action analysis. Allows me to see where i went wrong - i have the gist, but like most things, the devil’s in the details. This is a great learning game. Really watching how you shift the air power around, i know that’s key in this game.
The UK DD wasn’t available for blocking - purchased this turn. I went for morroco to eliminate a landing spot for german planes - But i didnt put the order of play into my calculation - italy grabs the territory, then germany uses it, before us/uk go again. I see what yoir saying - a bit of fore thought in allies teamwork, and concentration of force. The airbase was my plan for this turns purchase. I see why it is such a common early purchase now. It Just seemed to me too expensive early in the game - but certainly cheaper than what just happened! -

AB at gib is never wasted money if germany builds fleet…if g goes all land g1 then it can be delayed a turn or 2.
Chinese let you down a bit there but the result was never in doubt. Again, more experience will show that China can contest yunnan for C1 only…you need to run away from all the jap planes after that.

My goal was to make it to Round 8. Looking very yellow and brown right now. I guess it’s good I really like both sushi and lamb picatta.
The transport as part of my bid was a waste of $$ I see now. Not very useful after turn 1, not in the Indian ocean anyways. 7 could have been spent much better in a lot of places. Those 2 inf from SA can wait a turn or two to get in the action.
The only thing I can see the US doing since the beginning in the pacific is keeping the IJN partially occupied - and just the ships, not the air force. Currently, my postioning allows you to concentrate your airforce right where you want it and- near india, while still covering your navy, making any move I make near suicidal. Trying to seriously hold calcutta doesn’t seem to make any sense.Italy is huge. The Vichy trigger is something I had limited understanding about - now that I see it, I really got to go and read some other games more throughly.
Trying not to beat myself too much - first game. I am very much enjoying it. Thank you for playing such a Noob.
