    @LennardF I was looking over the map to figure out where the Soviet Pacific map started, and I discovered that America couldn’t have taken Timguska last turn. I thought the map started with Evenkiyskiy and Yenisey. You could have gone to Novosibirsk, but then that would have put you in range of mech inf/planes.

    I suggest 2 possible solutions, and welcome any thoughts you would have on them. First, leave it as is, and treat Timguska as a European map territory going forward, and have the Pacific map start as I was thinking it did. You could then declare war next turn as Russia next turn to allow troops to enter the far East (I’m assuming you’re planning on going that way), but nothing could enter this go around. Second solution is move the tank/mech inf to China where the other 3 mechs are at and return the territory to Germany and remove the IPC from America and add it to Germany. Since this would have called the issue to the forefront before Russia’s turn this past turn, you could have declared war then and I’d be fine with editting it in in this situation.

  • Hi, I’m not sure what the issue is - do you think that there is some restriction on movement through those maps - I don’t believe there is.

    I’m looking at the history of Round 12 to see what happened. In that turn I took the US tank and mech pair through Kansu (Chinese controlled) and took Timguska from the Germans. America and Germany were at war. Please clarify what you think is wrong here.

    @LennardF The Soviet Union is treated as a neutral country on the separate maps, until a declaration of war is made by an Axis power on that side of the world. It’s part of the political situation due to the separate peace treaties with Japan and Germany.
    From page 36:
    Due to its separate treaties with Germany and Japan, the Soviet Union is in a unique position in its relationship with the Axis powers. As a result, if the Soviet Union is at war with Axis powers on only one map, it is still under the restrictions of being a neutral power (see “Powers Not at War with One Another,” page 15) on the other map. In other words, a state of war with Japan lifts those restrictions from the Soviet Union on the Pacific map only, and a state of war with Germany and/or Italy lifts those restrictions on the Europe map only.

    Since it’s a neutral power, Allied forces can not enter the territory. It’s the same issue with why the fighter in the Philippines has to go to Guam and can’t land in Asia or Australia at the beginning of the game.


  • You are correct - clearly I hadn’t thought that through, I should have declared war with the SU once I let go of Moscow. If you want to roll the US back to that top-left Chinese position, remove the IPC going to the US and return the territory to German control that would be fine with me. Germany gets no new IPC (it was already assigned) and won’t have to take the territory back next turn.

    @LennardF Sorry for delay…I had posted asking for a clarification on the G40 board here since we read the rule differently. Kreighund posted a response earlier today in regards to this pointing to a clarified language version from Avalon Hill (https://media.wizards.com/2015/downloads/ah/AA_pacific_1940_rules.pdf)
