Actually, you can pick whatever, because all attack dice should be accounted for before deciding causalties. Just tip two ships, 1 bs and 1 ac. If there are any discrepancies, it’s just to redo the battle and edit in the first rounds results.

If it was only US it would be an easy choice, but there’s also UK and ANZAC to account for.
