Ahh, I only had 1 land unit which could attack, the artillery on Java. You had an inf and a tank. I couldn’t remove my fleet from SZ42, certain loss of the transport, improbable to take the territory without losing planes, probable that you would retake the island next turn. Also removing the artillery from Java removes a defender from there which could be useful later.
I just felt those reasons were stronger than the 8IPC for taking the island. I suppose 11IPC as a swing, but even so.
