Hrmmm, the decision I’m about to make could determine whether I have a win condition in this game or not. I think I could probably hold Moscow a while longer without the Vologda stack, and if I am agressive with it could probably take and hold Leningrad. But if I’m wrong, probably auto lose in Europe.

Allied Victory: Berlin and Rome and Japan are under allied control and allies maintain control of one of their own capitals.

Does anyone ever play to completion? I would imagine Allied victories are all Axis concessions.

I’d say that’s about right, the Axis has no real point of struggling to completion, but when the situation is overwhelmed it’s just to throw in the towel.

Axis victory is a different matter, like in a game when I crushed Axis, but neglected a free take-over of Hawaii and gave Axis a Pacific win. Could’ve been easily countered by just putting a des by Midway. C’est la vie. Hopefully I learned something with that. Has not been used to play with winning conditions earlier.

I could totally do the same thing in one of these Allied games. I think the victory city thing is silly as a win condition; would be interesting to see maybe some national objective like bonuses for controlling them but I prefer pure Capitol control as victory condition and believe it ought to be that way, especially considering that Axis have an advantage and I believe LH probably believed the Allies had the advantage when he designed the VC concept

Yes, Allies does have a serious economical advantage in the start, but Axis has initiative and momentum. I also think the VCs are a bit silly actually, which is why I’ve only played with them in the league. It’s possible of course when starting a game to negotiate them away, but that seriously alters the balance of the game. If Axis doesn’t have the opportunity to win this way, US can just neglect Australia, India and Hawaii and go full monty Germany or Japan. When having taken out one of the big nations, the rest should be rather simple.
