@trent15 good day. That is how it works . For big battles , it is best to ask your opponent his choice of casualties, however . Although, You could establish a few basic rules, before you start playing and it is always politeness to ask whether your opponent wants to scramble.

TripleA has an option when starting a PBEM game to post and end of turn summary here on AxisAndAllies.org. It sais an account is needed to do so, but I don’t see anywhere on the website/forums where this would be. Can someone please point the clueless noob in the right direction?

You need to type in the number at the end of the URL for the thread where you want the turn posted.
So in this case when you log into TripleA and put your info in there is a line that has ID number (or something similar) and you would type in:
12510That would post a turn to this thread when you complete that countries turn.
Each thread created has a different number so things won’t get mixed up. -
