good game, I’m calling this!
@axis-dominion Good game!

That surprises me. Egypt is the knock out blow? Doesn’t look like it can be saved.
I was anticipating one of two options US10 in the Pacific:
I suppose if you thought that you were well behind you could risk attacking both places and you’d probably succeed. I don’t know, I’m inclined to think Japan wasn’t that strong on Asia or at least vulnerable and India could have been defended. In spite of Japan’s powerful fleet. Positioning the USN at the Carolines does mean it needs to stick together. Perhaps if it came down all at once India could be taken. Then the DEI is in danger.
Perhaps I’m ignoring the strength of the German mobile and air forces. Could they have held Egypt while also coming back to USSR? Perhaps.
Well played Adam, congratz. Especially as the Allies got a nice gift at Yunnan in turn one. This made the Chinese a nasty spike for Japan throughout the whole game.
I find it unsatisfying that AD now resigns after allowing the Germans to create an unstoppable threat against Egypt easily without any resistance.
I think this wasn’t hard to calculate so before you just let it happen I would have made a stand at TJ and hope the Germans get diced. This can end up in a pyrrhic victory. A lot of winning outcomes aren’t good for Germany, so 80% winning chances is IMO just “good” in 50-60% of the outcomes. the bottom 20-30% of the winning outcome keeps the Allies in the game. Allies could have a counter against the ground so Egypt might hold.
AD, what odds did Germany have on TJ against a full stand?
@simon33 You’re forgetting the German bomber in the Pac which severely limits the options of the smaller US fleet, can’t block without wasting many ships.
I felt I had a decent game going, as well as can be expected against a strong axis player. I simply botched it up toward the end, when I didn’t think it through some more and rushed the US turn. If I had simply sent a few more of those 7 figs in china over to Turkmen, I could’ve held Egypt. or I could’ve probably just took a stand at TJ and risked that, as jdow pointed out (which I did consider as well). that particular day I was playing very fast turns and a lot of them, and going back & forth with ksmckay and even one turn with farm boy, so I think I got worn out. I should’ve slowed down some more on this critical turn. I ended up making a few mistakes in my ksmckay game as well!
anyway, not sure what my chances were anyway with axis so positionally strong, but I do feel I had SOME chances at least.

Good point that does explain why you can’t stack the Caroline’s but it doesn’t explain why kiangsu wasn’t attacked. There would have been a real loss of momentum for Japan in that instance. In fact, if the German bomber had moved up to Tokyo g10, the midway stack would have been off.
Perhaps enough Monday morning quarterback there though.
