I think you could just announce that it’s a recon force and which ships would be passing through if it succeeds… maybe put the recon force into the territory for combat and the rest of the fleet could be put on the line between the territories until combat is resolved. If the recon force takes out the blockers in the first round of combat, the ships on the line could then pass through the territory or use their shore bombardment in the territory: but the recon force could not pass through with them and could not bombard with them (they would be out of position, expended munitions, etc.). If the recon force fails to take out the blockers, then the remaining ships may join the combat or they could stay in the previous zone and either way can’t pass through or bombard the shore. The recon force would then have to continue to engage in regular combat or retreat.
A&A played using D10's

Anyone ever thought/attempted a higher numerical Di for the game, like d10’s? basically replace the d6 everywhere its used. I think D10’s would be ideal cause you can allow Percentage rolling for whatever reason, Like technology rolls, etc.

I am working on a variant that uses a D12 system. Works really good for your special units, allows alot more depth to the combat system.
-
We have been playing with D12 for years. It expands your choice of units. Here’s a list of units for Germany for example:
Mines recieve 2 for C3 d3
Inf c5 a2 d4
Truck c4 na na
Paratrooper c6 c3 d4
Waffen SS c6 a5 d5
Volkstrum c3 a1 d2
Jeep -At this point I decided to not put all the info for each unit, don’t have time.
Halftrack
SS Halftrack
Fortification
Artillery
Armor
SS Panzer
V-1
Fighter
Stuka
Bomber
Transport
Destroyer
Sub
Light Cruiser
Heavy Cruiser
Carrier
BattleshipTech Units:
Armored Car
Mobile Rocket Launcher
King Tiger Tank
Jet Fighter
Super Bomber -
Well, haven’t said anything here for a while.
Anyway, I think many of us will end up using d10s or d12s after FMG release their combat units, to fully utilise the variety available. I know I will.

Using D12’s or D10’s also expands the option of having different countries units be more powerful then others, for example a German tank was more powerful then a Japanese tank, with a D12 system this could be represented. :-D
