The daughter of Captain Hans Langsdorff will travel to her father’s grave in Buenos Aires next month, marking the 80th anniversary of his death and the scuttling of the Graf Spee. She’ll be accompanied by the descendants of some of the 1,000 German sailors who served on the ship.

After she died, Mr Loret found paintings in her attic which were signed by Hitler. In Germany, a portrait of a woman painted by the Fuhrer emerged that looked remarkably like Miss Lobjoie.

All of the above made important contributions to the war effort. Which one do you think contibuted the most. Do you think that there is one fighter that the U.S. could not have done without?

Code-named Exercise Tiger, the ill-fated D-Day dry run was at the time America’s costliest incident of the war (only Pearl Harbor was worse).
