The German air attack on the US/UK fleet stood about a 50% chance of winning, and the lopsided dice rolls in favor of the Axis in the first round of fighting substantially upped that probability. The Allies were lucky the fortunes of war shifted dramatically in the second and third rounds.
This reminds me; please replace the UK fighter in Greece with a US fighter.
This reminds me that I am losing my mind. I had planned to build 3 subs in SZ 93 so that they immediately had a presence in the Med. I was so flustered by the inept US attack on SZ 97 and its brilliant Italian defense (e.g., 2 of 3 hits by defending subs @1 and a nearly flawless performance by the Axis @ 4), I apparently forgot. Really bad command and control; costly mistake.
