While it would be absolutely good to have such a feature, we’re past the stage when the game can get substantial code changes. AAO stayed in Early Access between July 2019 and November 2021, and the also kept getting updates until July 2022. There was always a different feature or issue we worked on.

Hey guys,
Some guy from steam made a discord (voice and chat software like skype) where people who own the game meet each other. Through this network people play fast 1v1 games while chatting or we play bigger 3v2 games with communications. I dont own the discord but right now its the only way of having a chat function while playing AAAonline.

Can’t you chat in Steam?

@djensen Steam chat is buggy, and the Steam interface isn’t integrated into 1942 Online yet, so I don’t think players can send one another friend requests - besides which 1942 Online IDs may be different to Steam IDs.
I think players need to be Steam friends to use Steam chat.
On the other hand, if you find a pickup game on Discord, you already know other players involved use Discord since you found them on Discord, then it goes from there.
