I have had a 3D printer hobbyist CAD design a new BB playing piece and a new DD playing piece.
The BB is based on the WW1 UK Iron Duke modified for appearance. It is, certainly, better looking than the original BB design. Additionally, I (we) used a depiction of a WW1 US 4 stacker DD to make a modified DD playing piece for A&A WW1. The rationale that the Sub replaces the need for a DD just doesn’t ‘cut it’ (make sense). Most of the colour filaments used to 3D print these units are a good match to the original playing piece colours. I will post pictures of these as I have assistance doing so.
New HBG 3D Printed China set
-
How does everybody feel about this new 3d printed China surplus set Historical Board Gaming just announced on Facebook? One part of me really likes the new sculpts and peices but the other part of me is sad that most of the parts would not see much action. In A&A 1940 Global China only receives infantry, artillery, and planes (in my game calvery too). In global China does get the chance to build whatever they want only if they finish the civil war and don’t get destroyed by Japan.

“The War Game” and others address this by letting you buy all the units for every team, with different costs. So China pays 8 for tanks, Most powers pay 6, Germany 5 etc. This makes things more complex, but also more flexible.
