Thank you for clarification! :)
Scramble planes belonging to friendly powers?
-
Hi. I’ve searched in the rules, not finding an answer to this, so i turn to the forum.
Say for example, Germany has fighters or tactical bomers in Southern Italy, containing an italian air base.
UK attacks the italian navy in an adjacent SZ (95 or 97).
Q: Can Italy scramble those german planes?
It would be a “passive” way to use the luftwaffe to help Italy’s navy in the almost inevitable britisk attack.
Thanks.

@TheOperator yes you can. @panther will probably give you a detailed answer

Here is the rule,
From the Rulebook, Pacific 1940.2, page 15, section “Scramble”, 2nd clause:
Air units belonging to powers friendly to the attacked power may be scrambled by their owner if the owning power is at war with the attacking power, so long as the limit of 3 total air units is respected.
HTH

@Panther Thanks a lot, I appreciate it.
It isn’t said in those words exactly, in the Europe Rulebook, but I assume it’s the same, since the rules of scrambling should be similar.- TO

What rulebook are you exactly referring to,
Actually it is exactly the same text, here:
Rulebook Europe 1940.2, page 16, Scramble section, 2nd clause, last sentence:
Air units belonging to powers friendly to the attacked power may be scrambled by their owner if
the owning power is at war with the attacking power, so long as the limit of 3 total air units is respected. -
@Panther Literally the one under “download and rules” on this website. But i checked a paper copy from a friend, and you’re absolutely right. The wording is as you say it is. Don’t know why the digital copy is different.
Sorry for the confusion, but again, thanks for the clarafication. I would expecct it to be a subject of discussion for my group og friends in a later game :)

Actually that one is a bit outdated. AH has released an edited version I think back in 2016. Find the latest versions here:
