@Mr_CrOwLeY_80 US Commanders’ abilities cannot be used for China. Per page 10 of the Anniversary Rulebook, “China and its units are controlled by the U.S. player, but for game purposes it is considered a separate power and its resources cannot be mixed.” On the positive side, that leaves you free to choose Chines Commanders for use with China.
Repairing a Battleship?

Hi there,
As i am finishing reviewing the rules for my first game of Anniversary Edition i just to make sure of something.I understand that in anniversary edition there is no naval base to go to in order to repair as in global.
When the rule says “If a battleship survives a combat having taken one hit, return it upright to the game board.”
Does “returning upright” means the ship is somehow repaired after combat?In other words can we ever repair a damaged battleship at all in this edition?

A damaged battleship indeed is repaired by returning it upright to the game board.

@Soviet-Steamroller The Battleship is repaired after surviving combat. It can be attacked in subsequent turns and still take two hits to sink.

Awesome… auto-repair for surviving battleships! Wish that Carriers would have the same treatment in Anniversary edition. -
@Soviet-Steamroller I know what you mean. Having a huge fleet and then losing to a few subs is very depressing.

Having subs (low cost) in your own fleet can shield your carriers. Just have at least one DD in that mix so attacking subs don’t get the opening fire capability.

@axis_roll Ok, I guess it was bad planning by having my aircraft carrier fleet without proper protection of a destroyer. I lost 5 fighters after that battle. Thanks for the tip!

That is brutal! I will have to remember to protect my fleets like this. I have built some large fleets mostly with aircraft carriers and fighters and I now realize how vulnerable they were…
