I also lost to Fr fleet when I played Italy in our first game and skimped on the attack. I was delayed in responding because I just crushed Dawg in 32253. Took London and he can’t get it back, so game will be over next turn. He had bad luck for much of the game.

Japan’s rapid conquest after just 2 turns is scary. When I play Axis, Japan advances fast on China, but leaves Rus alone. I went back to prior games to see Japan’s progress. In my recent games, I move on India with large land force. You are advancing across Russia and thru China towards Russia. Rus can’t afford to send units eastward. With Brit about to lose Egypt, it can’t spend a lot to defend Rus. I need to consider all options. I will sleep on it. I like BM3 because Japan has to garrison every interior territory, which slows down its advance.

I have several different strategies for Japan. This is a bit of a modification of one of my Japanese strategies that I’m trying. It does reduce USSR’s income nicely… :)

Ha, Japan would have taken Hong Kong before China was completely conquered. Asia for the Asians, blah, blah, blah.
I was excited when I saw the first round battle dice for Egypt. Bat Calc gave Italy 60% chance, not guaranteed by any means. I rolled better and you rolled worse than expected. But in a most unusual turnaround within a single battle, you rolled far above in round 2 and I rolled 0-7. Which more than offset the first round results. I was hoping to at least cost you a ftr or 2 and leave you vulnerable. At least the China/India offensive rolled well.
