Interesting battle… After a very bad start, I almost won it with a surviving unit, then I didn’t. :)
Wasn’t sure if you would take the scramble. TUV made sense, but I feel like the Russian fighters are possibly the most valuable in the game.

I started a game with S.A. last week and tested Marti yesterday after he finally responded to scramble request. I did Marti test before doing any actual combat because I knew if it failed in the test that it wouldn’t work in actual combat. I started a test game at Panther’s request in order to get the debug results. Appears that I can start but not do combat for any new game, mine or someone else’s.

Your are using a way outdated Java, that does not include the latest security certificates needed.
This old version had been installed by a bundled TripleA-version sometimes in the past.
You won’t find this Java version in the Control Panel, so you need to manually remove it.
Please use the Explorer to browse to c;\program files\common files\ and find the directory “i4j_jres”.
Please delete the i4j_jres directory including its subdirectories manually.
After that download the latest version of Java 8 from
https://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp
and install it.
It should work then.

Thanks Panther. I removed the old Java and installed the latest, both 32 and 64-bit, in order for it to work in the Triplea launcher, and marti test dice worked.

Actually you don’t need both Java versions.
As you are on a 64bit Windows you only need the 64bit-TripleA-installation as well as the 64bit Java.
In case you installed the 32bit TripleA version, you would need the 32bit Java, too.
I recommend that you use 64bit versions of both on your system. You can uninstall the 32bit versions, then.

Decided to try Taranto for a change. Usually attack Ita army in Tobruk instead.

Crappy dice. Lost all attackers in Eng Cha and didn’t sink the Ger BB, didn’t kill any Italians in Ethiopia, didn’t sink the Italian fleet on round 1. That’s why I wanted to hit the Ger BB with all available planes in UK instead of diverting a ftr to Taranto.

Ger & Ital rolled far above average and Brit rolled far below. Except Brit took no loss in sz96, where it could afford to have lost a sub. Now Ger BB can go home and repair and Italy can threaten Egypt in 2 turns. This starts me off at an immediate disadvantage.
@FMErwinRommel It could’ve come out great. With the fighters in Scotland gone, I was a bit surprised with Taranto especially with BB and 2 subs there. Hard call.
I can accept one bad dice battle in a turn, but 2 extremely bad and one below average is like going back to the first Italian round and second German round in our first game.
