I think mainly what saved me this game was the dice. With the exception of both German bombers getting hit by a 1 (AAA during bombing raids), and Italy getting some crap dice in the openers, like the bomber missing, but the UK destroyer hitting at sz 81, Axis all around were getting really good dice.
Pretty much bad luck dice for the Allies when rolled up as an aggregate by round 13.
Finland was definitely the icing on the cake (8 hit point difference by combat round 2).
