Well apparently that Vichy rule changed without my knowledge (thought I finally had those rules down). It didn’t always have to be a Land unit (such bullcrap IMO). Had I known that I would have not attacked Iraq and deposited troops there on NCM. Can’t change that now, but in a show of good sportmanship I would ask that you allow me to edit the fighter out of S. France because that doesn’t make any sense to just sacrifice a fighter for no reason at all. Sorry for my ignorance on that issue.

Thank you for your kindness. I would have not have attacked Iraq and instead used that transport to NCM move a LAND unit to S France.(had I not been a dummy and kept up on the ruleset) I understand that the game mechanics never allow for a plane to control a territory, but I guess I’m not sure that’s the idea behind the rule since it doesn’t need to control the territory since France already controls it and is part of the Allies. But I don’t know the history of Vichy so I am sure I need to be educated about it. As for gameplay the UK can prevent it from happening every game (without the fighter) if they choose. I see no difference in sacrificing a 10 ipc fighter or sacrificing a transport and inf there for 10 ipc. In fact by rule I could only send the AA gun from Malta and still meet the requirements to foil Vichy. I like BM but I still do have some issues with the rule set and I wouldn’t call it balanced. More like “better balance but not there yet” :-D

Imho perfect balance is basically impossible because the skillset of the players are so vastly different. Maybe a setup might be balanced for the pro gamers, but swings in one direction or the other at freshman / unexperienced level.
I consider BM to be really close, closer than ever, to be balanced. I also highly appreciate the increase of number of NO’s - that enriches the gameplay and makes it more complex. And it adds importance to a lot of the smaller countries / islands. In vanilla, no one ever cares about Guam, Midway, Gilbert, Solomon, Paulau and so on.In BM every single island in the pacific serves a purpose. Same with Crete and Cyprus/Malta.
You’re right, the UK can stop Vichy from happening, but I’ve never seen it done with a transport. I guess most people value Persia / Gibraltar higher. But it’s great idea, that I never considered!

Great point! And I agree with you wholeheartedly! No amount of mods or bids can make up for player skill level. It will never be balanced as long as people play it. I do enjoy the Objectives and how they use parts of the maps that usually remain dormant. It makes it exciting and increases the oppurtunities for each player. My biggest gripe with BM are the Chinese guerillas popping up. I think that needs to be adjusted somehow or add a bonus to Japan for holding all of China. And maybe there is one too many NO in the Med for the Allies. Vichy is a cool aspect to go for or not. Marines are great! SBR are perfect. Plundering a nations capital only once is a huge win for the allies. That was such an advantage for the Axis in Vanilla.

Oh yeah, the capital plundering is great. And it was also so dumb in vanilla, where the Allies wouldn’t ever capture Paris, even if they could. That alone would make me play BM haha.
I think the China guerillas are important too because I always thought it was too easy for Japan to conquer China and ALSO do pressure on India. When I played Allies, I almost always were pinned down to India while losing all of China.
But yeah - a bonus to Japan for all of China could be a good idea. You could argue, though, that Japan is already leading quite a lot if they manage to get all of China. But it’s a great idea, have you mentioned it to the creators?
