• This thread is OFF TOPIC.

It was NOT a global warming thread climate, it was a WEATHER thread posted for fun.

weather is fun.  anyone not get the four seasons?

  • @Cmdr:

I agree, it’s snide, rude, and highly uninformed.

I guess you would know, lol.

But I see you again making up claims without any citations.  Remember when we did have PD and everyone agreed that an argument required something like that?  Yeah?  Well, I’m sorry that I don’t believe you now when you continue to not cite, get caught red-handed plagiarizing or down right lying, and use weasel words and phrases like “everyone knows” and “all scientists say…”

But good on balung for trying to bring things back.

  • Now that I think about it, Iraq isn’t much different from Connecticut. We have two seasons, summer and winter.

  • Washington has 2 seasons.
cold rain season and not so cold rain season

The weather around Baghdad is exactly the same as home for me.  The only difference is that at home the AC in my car works.

you have 50 mph AC in your car in Iraq, it’s just not a car and it’s just not AC

Yes, and YOU are claiming I am wrong, thus YOU must provide evidence.

Not anymore, your not allowed to drop the windows, so it’s like running the ac full blast with a realy big sunroof open.  If the AC breaks mid mission ur screwed.  It happened to me once, fortunately for me I was in the turret, so It was like I jumped in a pool up to my waist.

There’s SNOW on the ground, why do you need to “cool down” in Iraq!?

  • '19 Moderator

Maybe not today but four months from now is a different story.  As you know…

  • '18 '17 '16 '11 Moderator

Darlin, it’s a bloomin desert!  I know it’ll be 110* and drier then 10 day old cow patties in no time! (smell about the same too, IMHO.)

  • '19 Moderator

Yeah, nothing like the smell of thousand year old sheep turds blowing in the wind.

Yes, and YOU are claiming I am wrong, thus YOU must provide evidence.

Your take on the convention of debating is spectacular.  But I don’t really want to get into that AGAIN with you, when the entire site couldn’t convince you otherwise.  So when are you going to prove U-505 wrong?

To put your method into perspective, we had the mildest winter ever here in KY.  We had 70 degree weather in Oct., Nov., and even Feb.  We didn’t even get a decent snow (mostly flurries all winter) until last week, and it was gone in 2 days.  By my perceptions, global warming is here.  But that’s now how it works.

  • Hu, hu, come to Spain and see the climatic change in all his power. Here in Andalucia we had this year a 3 month spring (November to January) and a 9 month summer of flame (oh, that was a great Dragonlance book!) the rest of the year . 50º Celsius on shadow

Winter? Yea, in ancient times, when the world was young, It was winter in Andalucia  :-D

of course its here.  everyone knows that.  the earth warms up sometimes.  but why……

    @balungaloaf:

of course its here.  everyone knows that.  the earth warms up sometimes.  but why……

Effects on the gravity field induced by interstellar radiation
Solar Flares/Sun Spots/Increased Solar Mass Ejections, etc
    Volcanic/Tectonic activity
Normal fluctuation in Earth’s elliptical path around the sun (falls closer and father away)
Normal Earth progression on it’s axis (our North star is not always the same, it’s been a different start as recently as a few thousand years ago)

The only thing we can really say about why the Earth warms and cools each year is that man has nothing to do with it.

  • I disagree, Jen. Of course, Global Warming can have natural causes. But the man also has impact on it. How much is the question, sure, but the man has impact. It’s better trying do something about it because the man can make the global warming worst than if only natural issues were affecting. Investing in alternate energies is not only good for prevent global warming, is good for preventing economy collapsing when fossile combustibles are no more and can save much money.

An example: Spain is a country with plenty of hours of sun and strong winds. It would be better economically for Spain invest in more solar and wind power plants than continue relying mayorly on importantion of fossile combustibles. There are a few some solar/wind power plants in Spain, but should be more.

And not, this is not a liberal/conservative issue. Is a issue of political interest. Our 4 year so-called “socialist” government does not much about it (they are too busy babbling insults against the conservatives of PP and viceversa).

Of course, another countries could make another approach depending their circumstances and in any case, the changes should be made at the proper speed, not too fast for not collapsing the economy but not too slow or it will not resolve nothing.
