    @Zero:

    @Jermofoot:

    Lol.

    Not only will I disregard your evidence and argument, I’ll make ridiculous claims myself and not cite any evidence of my own.  And knock religions while I’m at it.

    For some reason I’m picturing this being said in the exaggerated “Monty Python and the Holy Grail” French castle accent.  :-D

    I agree, it’s snide, rude, and highly uninformed.

    There’s no, that’s ZERO, evidence that global warming is man made or that it even really exists.  In 10 years we had a 0.4 degree centigrade temperature increase.  Last year we had a 1.0 degree centigrade decrease.  In other words, we are colder now, then we were ten years ago.

    Furthermore, the models being used for greenhouse gas warming do NOT take into account volcanic activity, solar activity, interstellar radiation activity, magnetic activity or other natural phenomena.  On top of that, global temperature stations are routinely placed over hot springs, air conditioner exhaust systems and other hot spots which skews the data.

    I don’t HAVE to find proof, because everyone already KNOWS it is happening.  (Hey, you religious fanatics use that argument all the time.  My turn…only, in my case it also happens to be true.  There are plenty of pictures of temperature stations where I described them and literally tens of thousands of scientists who have been studying this saying that the theory is bunk.)

    As for how this came into play, Chicago has the highest snow fall in recorded history (Almost.  We’re within 3 inches.)  Baghdad had the first snow fall in recorded history.  China’s buried in snow and experiencing the coldest winter in their history.  Antartican ice sheets grew at a rate never before seen by man.  Polar Bears are not only thriving, but at their highest populations since records were first taken of them over a hundred years ago.  (Grizzly bears are too, for the record, they were endangered before President Bush took them off the endangered species list.)

    There’s no evidence that global warming isn’t just a touchy feely new age religion.  However, if you look at the believers of the faith, they do react much like Muslims, Buddhists and Christians.  They take everything on faith and call anyone who dares to question their beliefs pagans, fanatics, heathens or unbelievers.  In fact, they’ve even taken to lieing about people trying to get them fired if they do not alter their test results to show what THEY want shown.

    On top of that, they are forcing us to put deadly chemicals in our homes!  If one CFL breaks in my house, it will cost me $1,300 to have the government come clean it up and it may kill my children.  If an incandescent bulb breaks in my house, I use a potato to get the rest of the bulb out of the socket, get a vacuum or broom and dust pan and clean it up, then go to the store, pay $0.50 and get a new one.

    They are artificially driving up the price of gas by forbidding the United States from drilling our own oil AND from building refineries.  It’s a plot to force us to conform to how THEY want us to live.  If we built just two more refineries and opened drilling on the coast, the price of gas would be much lower then it is today.  I’m not saying it would be as low as in the 1980s, but we could see 1990s prices again and that, in turn, would stop inflation in its tracks as food and medicine, and transportation and all other prices dropped as well.

  • This thread is OFF TOPIC.

    It was NOT a global warming thread climate, it was a WEATHER thread posted for fun.

    weather is fun.  anyone not get the four seasons?

    I guess you would know, lol.

    But I see you again making up claims without any citations.  Remember when we did have PD and everyone agreed that an argument required something like that?  Yeah?  Well, I’m sorry that I don’t believe you now when you continue to not cite, get caught red-handed plagiarizing or down right lying, and use weasel words and phrases like “everyone knows” and “all scientists say…”

    But good on balung for trying to bring things back.  :lol:

  • Now that I think about it, Iraq isn’t much different from Connecticut. We have two seasons, summer and winter.

  • Washington has 2 seasons.
    cold rain season and not so cold rain season  :lol:

    The weather around Baghdad is exactly the same as home for me.  The only difference is that at home the AC in my car works.

    you have 50 mph AC in your car in Iraq, it’s just not a car and it’s just not AC  :lol:

    Yes, and YOU are claiming I am wrong, thus YOU must provide evidence.

    Not anymore, your not allowed to drop the windows, so it’s like running the ac full blast with a realy big sunroof open.  If the AC breaks mid mission ur screwed.  It happened to me once, fortunately for me I was in the turret, so It was like I jumped in a pool up to my waist.

    There’s SNOW on the ground, why do you need to “cool down” in Iraq!?

    Maybe not today but four months from now is a different story.  As you know…

    Darlin, it’s a bloomin desert!  I know it’ll be 110* and drier then 10 day old cow patties in no time! (smell about the same too, IMHO.)

  • '19 Moderator

    Yeah, nothing like the smell of thousand year old sheep turds blowing in the wind.

    Yes, and YOU are claiming I am wrong, thus YOU must provide evidence.

    Your take on the convention of debating is spectacular.  But I don’t really want to get into that AGAIN with you, when the entire site couldn’t convince you otherwise.  So when are you going to prove U-505 wrong?

    To put your method into perspective, we had the mildest winter ever here in KY.  We had 70 degree weather in Oct., Nov., and even Feb.  We didn’t even get a decent snow (mostly flurries all winter) until last week, and it was gone in 2 days.  By my perceptions, global warming is here.  But that’s now how it works.

  • Hu, hu, come to Spain and see the climatic change in all his power. Here in Andalucia we had this year a 3 month spring (November to January) and a 9 month summer of flame (oh, that was a great Dragonlance book!) the rest of the year . 50º Celsius on shadow  :cry:

    Winter? Yea, in ancient times, when the world was young, It was winter in Andalucia  :-D

    of course its here.  everyone knows that.  the earth warms up sometimes.  but why……

  • '18 '17 '16 '11 Moderator

    @balungaloaf:

    of course its here.  everyone knows that.  the earth warms up sometimes.  but why……

    Effects on the gravity field induced by interstellar radiation
    Solar Flares/Sun Spots/Increased Solar Mass Ejections, etc
    Volcanic/Tectonic activity
    Normal fluctuation in Earth’s elliptical path around the sun (falls closer and father away)
    Normal Earth progression on it’s axis (our North star is not always the same, it’s been a different start as recently as a few thousand years ago)

    The only thing we can really say about why the Earth warms and cools each year is that man has nothing to do with it.

  • I disagree, Jen. Of course, Global Warming can have natural causes. But the man also has impact on it. How much is the question, sure, but the man has impact. It’s better trying do something about it because the man can make the global warming worst than if only natural issues were affecting. Investing in alternate energies is not only good for prevent global warming, is good for preventing economy collapsing when fossile combustibles are no more and can save much money.

    An example: Spain is a country with plenty of hours of sun and strong winds. It would be better economically for Spain invest in more solar and wind power plants than continue relying mayorly on importantion of fossile combustibles. There are a few some solar/wind power plants in Spain, but should be more.

    And not, this is not a liberal/conservative issue. Is a issue of political interest. Our 4 year so-called “socialist” government does not much about it (they are too busy babbling insults against the conservatives of PP and viceversa).

    Of course, another countries could make another approach depending their circumstances and in any case, the changes should be made at the proper speed, not too fast for not collapsing the economy but not too slow or it will not resolve nothing.
