Exactly. It was really not a good G1. Sub optimal for sure. It’s easy for the UK to kill the capital ship and then Germany is just left with 2 subs…and only 6 tanks on Paris…woopty do.

Nope. I hit Yugo like I did almost every game and capture it. I don’t leave too much for Italy because in my games Italy is usually struggling just to defend it’s own capital.

That is about the most disrespectful UK1 buy I have done in a long time, but after looking at others games and from my own experience SeaLion is just so sub optimal that Its almost good for the Allies when it happens.

Germany already had a rough G1. I was right that you would easily clean up the capital ship in the channel, but Germany still lost all inf, mech, and art in Paris. Yugo helped a little, but it doesn’t replace the artillery needed for defense of western Europe. I guess overall G1 is kind of evened out. Anyways, I do not think the Axis can win this game without Japan getting going. Especially with that agressive UK1 purchase despite getting a 19 bid. 19 is alot, maybe not for league experts. But in my skill level I usually lose against that high a bid. I beat you with 17 AND the US used resources in Iraq that were really a waste. But the J1 DOW maybe threw you off? I thought your Japan was initially on track to be a threat at one point. I think too many tanks went deep into china, when they were needed to defend a large stack seizing of India.
Anyways, the US bought and setup for KJF, not Germany. If you want to do a neutral crush And setup to challenge Japan for control of the Pacific while requesting Japan to completely cede the initiative, than I do not want to partake. The Western Allies will already be too powerful due to position and neutered economy of Japan.
I don’t see a valid reason or incentive for Japan to not go to war. As the board stands I see a lost game without Japan doing what it needs to do to have a chance. If there was a stack of transports and a navy sitting off Washington ready to go to Gibraltar than it might make sense. You do not have to neutral crush the same turn the US comes across the Atlantic. The US navy is already ready to get into position against Japan. Whereas Japan cannot even do something productive like limit Indias economy. I do not want to play 10 rounds to prove I lost the game.
You can still do a neutral crush if you want, but I do not want to be restricted. If you insist on stacking up against Japan while saying it cannot go to war it is I want my cake and eat it too. It would be an unrealistic strategy for someone of any merit in a real game to just let the US and allies win against Japan so easily. By the time you get to doing a neutral crush, the allies will have WON the game. It will be irrelevant.
Did you setup the US knowing Japan is not supposed to go to war on J2 or do you always setup like this? I imagine your setup is not much different. This is close to my normal setup because I can air blast Burma on J2 if India stacked there. If you want to play on without Japanese restrictions, feel free to make edits to include India. Editing the US navy purchase to the Atlantic might persuade me to think you are going for Ger. That navy can come back to the Pacific; but it makes a J3 an option because than Japan could get ready to make up for the extra growth of India. I don’t know because the US purchase was mostly warships. Did you buy a transport? The US probably should respond to Japan in the beginning anyways. I probably would even if I wanted to do a neutral crush.

So lots to address there, first off your g1 was rough, no doubt. But it had ups and downs, Your Atlantic wall is non existent but your forces are sitting pretty on the East. The UK is without a navy which HURTS. I was forced into buying a destroyer just because you were left with 4 subs on the board on G1 and bought another one! as for the aggressive UK purchase that is part of what I was wanting to play test, I am starting to think that Sea Lion is such a bad option that I want it to happen. However, there are still some criteria I look for from Germany to be that aggressive, one of them is the German Buy consists of no aircraft or surface warships, the second is to see if Germany’s starting transport is in range to double scotch me (which it is not). If one of those is true I will be fairly aggressive maybe 5 inf and a factory, or a couple mech for SA, however this game neither of those happened and so Sea Lion was not threatened AT ALL.
As for the US Purchase, I will always spend Heavy in the Pacific for at least a turn and normally two unless Japan goes for Russia, in which case I rush for the Atlantic because I know the soviets are getting pinched. My reason for that is, that even if Japan waits till J4 to Dow, the Japanese navy is so much larger than the American one that even if Japan buys nothing but transports/factories/ground units for the first 3 turns that America cannot hope to survive. Also there is the reason that any American ships bought in the Pacific take 3 turns to project true threat, the turn they are bought, the next turn they are in Hawaii, the third turn they are in Carolines/Queensland and only then are they in a position to project threat to Japan, therefore I will almost always spend in the Pacific regardless what I want to do. As for not buying transports on turn 1, what is the point? With German subs, bombers and a cruiser in the Atlantic I need surface ships to even protect the one transport I do have.
Also despite the fact that I know you are doing a late Jdow, I cannot play as if I know that, it is cheesy. I have to play as if you are setting up for a J2, with a neutral crush as an option in my book. Similar to our last game, I didn’t try some crazy German AfricaKorp strategy where I beat the US to Iraq and go “haha beat your idea”. Similarly this game since you know I am doing a neutral crush I would find it incredibly cheesy for you to have a random Italian inf stationed in Greece ready to walk on to Turkey the turn I hit the neutrals, or for Japan to have a transport off the coast of Africa ready to claim Saudi Arabia or Mozambique. Despite knowing your general plan I don’t play like I do (try anyways).
All of that being said, feel free to Jdow on turn 2, I truly understand. If you want to do go for it. Or if you feel like the G1 was so bad that you cant play from it, start the game over. Or feel free to continue with the original plan, I understand any way you choose :)

I won’t have silly stuff setup like an Italian Infantry in Greece. But I assume the UK will attack Turkey same turn US hits Spain. When I see US transports in the Atlantic, Germany will naturally start preparing for defense. But just so you know, I usually have Italy buy lots pf ground to assist with defense of w. Europe regardless of the US plans because they can always drop a navy at a later time. Opposite of the purchases that you did.
I don’t think the UK was forced to buy a destroyer. That is a diff discussion. But I am not complaining about an agressive UK turn 1 purchase. You have very valid points. Just saying it is all the more reason for Japan to try to reach economic stability.
