    A)  Yes I’m fine
    B)  No, I don’t know any of the victims, at least that I know of
    C)  Yes the building I pretty much live in is attached to the one the shooter was in, but I rarely ever actually go into that building.

    That said, I’m rather ticked classes are canceled tomorrow. :/  I know why, and I understand it, but I was looking forward to them.

    Glad you’re okay Jen.

    I had quite a few classes in Cole when I was there (late 90’s).  Infact, I’m pretty sure I took that Geology class.  It is just strange to think something so bad happened in a classroom were you spent so much time.

    indeed.  good to hear you’re ok.  i didnt even know you went there.

    my school had a bomb threat for valentines day from two weeks prior.  in my building of course.  nothing happened but what was weird was that at 3 o clock i was in another building in the basement area and the lights were flashing when i got out of the bathroom.  and nobody was around at all, and the lights mean get your ass outta there and take cover.  nothing happened here, but at that same time, it was happening there.  way to sad.

    The news broke at 1515 hours, I generally get to my car around 1500, so it was close.  I was actually on Lincoln Hwy leaving campus at the time the news broke.

    @ncscswitch:

    Glad you are not dead.

    Not as glad as me!

    Anyway, it’s a bit freaky that the building next to the one I work in was the one that got shot up.  I’m used to this stuff happening, oh, about a dozen states away!

    Small world Jen, I went to NIU!  I am not sure of exactly where the shooting was (been a while) but it looked to be in front of the main building with the hotel and Mcdonalds.  I stayed in Douglas and stevenson when I was there.

    I hear you actualy have a football team now, when I went they pretty much never won a single game in the 2 years I was there.

    If I ever go back there me and my GF should kick your butt in A&A!  :-D

    Glad to hear your ok, they are looking at a bill in my state to allow people with CC permits to carry on campus.

    @dezrtfish:

    Glad to hear your ok, they are looking at a bill in my state to allow people with CC permits to carry on campus.

    There are quite a few studies that show that firearms prevent more crimes then they allow.  I can almost guaran-frackin-ty you that if three or four guys in that lecture hall had a firearm on them, that murderous bastard would have only gotten two kills instead of six.  (because it takes a moment to flip the safety off.)

    Other things you will NOT hear about the incident on television:

    On 7 Feb, 2008 the security temp workers that were hired during the shooting scare during last semester’s finals were let go from their contract and the school went back to pre-scare levels of security. (They were unarmed, and had pretty mace, but they were at least walking the halls of every building at least.)

    Campus police were forbidden to carry firearms.  (They had cute little sticks and some pepper spray though.)

    If Gov. Rod Blagoevich had issued FOID cards (the permits basically to own a firearm, of which ZERO have been issued since he took office, effectively removing the 2nd Amendment from the body republic) someone may have “accidentally” brought a firearm on campus to defend him/herself against the possibility of a shooting, given the rash of shootings on campus in the past few years.

    Just a few thoughts.

    Anyway, I have a week off of school, which really pisses me off.  Why should this kid get memorialized for a week!?!?  Reschedule the classes from that building in other halls, and reopen the school!  You can still offer free counselling to the students, etc, but let’s not glorify this murderer more then we have too.

    Well I don’t know if it will happen now, the three campus police chiefs (NAU ASU UofA) have come out against it. The NAU chief said some thing like: when ever a gun is seen on campus it causes a disturbance.  I don’t remember exactly what he said but it struck me as dumb.  The reason it would cause a “disurbance” is they’re not currently allowed.  :roll:

    anyway,

    The bill would allow those with concealed carry permits to carry on campus.  In AZ if you have a CC permit you are on a police database and they know you are armed or most likely armed.  You also have to be trained and exhibit proficiency with the weapon you carry.  I think it’s a good Idea.

    Arming the populace is the same theory as building Nukes in the Cold War.  You don’t plan on using them, you just want the other side to know you COULD use them.

    Most prisoners when polled would say they would rather invade a home when no one is home.  Not to avoid capture, but rather because they are afraid the homeowners might have a gun!

    But you know me.  I think we should get rid of Racial Diversity Class and replace it with Firearm Safety and Marksmanship Class in public schools.
