Which one should I buy and what is the difference in the 2? Is Iron Blitz a release to fix bugs and be a better game, or is it just and expansion to include ‘marines’ & ‘destroyers’ etc.?

Appearantly you can’t buy Iron Blitz anymore, but you can still get the original A&A just about anywhere fairly cheap.

Another great learning path you can take is 1941, 1942, and finally 1940. More complicated/bigger usually equals more fun and more time-consuming.

Anniversary is still the most popular among loyal but infrequent gamers.

That’s pretty much what I’m getting… 2 sets of all the pieces, 1 set of chips, and control markers. I frequently run out of markers for Japan, Germany, and Russia sometimes.

I run XP and have no issues with A&A at all. I would suggest a couple of things:

1. Make sure you cdrom drive you play the game from is on DMA mode and not PIO mode.

2. Upgrade to the latest Direct X package.

3. Make sure you are using the most current drivers for your video card.

Those are all standard answers I know but you just can’t be too sure. Does this do this in any other games or programs or just A&A?

The following works if you play the board game w/real dice…
You might check the dice immediately before you roll and after your opponent rolls every time. This way you catch loaded dice and have a good gaming habit that only adds a minute or two to each turn turn.

i think i would prefer setting up the board manually and just moving the pieces around according to what the players do. this way i could look at it anytime, and i tried using the map thing that you can download once, and i couldn’t even figure out how to put pieces on the board, let alone move them around!

There is no special rules for multi player game touranments, you’d just have to find enough people.
