Are there 3rd Edition Rules for the A&A Boardgame? I heard that there are 3rd edition rules for the computer game, though I have no idea about the validity of this statement. If so could somebody please post a link to such rules?

Addressing the FlaK guns issue, according to the rules;only one gun may fire, no matter how many guns you have in a territory.
On a personal note, my flaK guns never hit, so I think this rule should not exist. If you want to go to the expense, and put 4 Flak Guns in a territory, then you should be able to fire them all! :evil:
Just be sure to put in some ear plugs in before you do, because the noise will be deafening! :-o
No, not the little toy guns, from the crying of your opponent when you shoot down all their planes. :-P

In the 3rd edition of the Classic rules, air units were allowed to retreat. The 3rd edition also provided for sub submergence. I will need to add the stack thing.

The third edition was the CD version. The CD allowed many illegal actions (plus it did have some optional rules that you could use or not use at your discretion). The items I listed above were not permitted by the rule set that was published with the game. The programming was flawed, allowing the actions you describe to occur, and many CD players then played the game allowing the use of these flaws, incorrectly interpreting the flaws as rules revisions.

It did not make it part of the “classic” rule set.

If you want to add another subset for comparison, then by all means add “3rd edition” - enough online CD players used the rules you cite to qualify it as a separate rule set, but if you are not going to distinguish it as a separate rule set, then I would encourage your comparison chart to use the published rules for Axis and Allies 2nd edition as the point of reference for “classic”.

Once in the New Game menu, instead of clicking Begin, click on Options, then Edit Unit is directly above your choice of buttons for that menu.

it sounds like a fun variant, but i can see where Geze is coming from. Although i hate losing, i would feel bad beating a player with a superior position because of a 1 in 36 shot (or 5 in 36, or whatever). The point is, although it may even out the field a little bit, and it might be fun at times, it does nothing to separate out the winners from the losers (he says at the same instant that Zero is kicking his ass).

Stacking AA guns can be an advantage to the Allies when it becomes necessary to juggle AA guns between Allied territories. Under second edition rules, the Allied turn order can cause industrial complexes to go without an AA gun which can mean big trouble, especially if the Axis has heavy bombers.

I have had this situation arise many times in the European theatre, specifically when German territory is falling or the US has rockets.

agreed. This can even apply to the Axis as well. It may be nice to be able to “hold” a gun, while moving one at the same time. I remember at least one game where i wished that i could have 2 aa guns (even tho’ only one could be fired).

Do you guys actually waste your money rolling for industrial technology? I’ve found that my lucky is pretty shabby when it comes to that and I spend a minimum of twenty Ipcs just to get A industrial tech, let alone the one i want! Spend your money on actualy troops and you’ll go a lot further
